Using dvc points at a Disney hotel

If I want to book at a regular Disney hotel with dvc points, do I just call member services and have them do it? Will it show up as a reservation in my dashboard or is it completely separate? Is there a charge to do this like there is with RCI? Thanks

Yes, if you have points qualified for the DVC collection, you call them, pay the $95 fee, and they will convert them to reservation points to book what you want, subject to availability.

Just remember rule of 4 applies for this type of reservation, any cancellation keeps these as reservation points which can no longer be used for DVC stays.

The rule of Four is that you cannot book and stay during the last four months of your UY with a Disney Collection reservation. So if, with a Sept UY, you decide to use qualified points to book the Yacht Club for July, you have to make that reservation prior to May 1. You can't book that stay from May 1 to the day of your July reservation. DVC needs more time to make sure they sell your equivalent points to pay for that stay.

Plus you'll use a whole lot more points for that non-DVC stay than you would for a DVC stay.
