My DH travels every June to France/Italy, and we were talking about possibly having myself and our DD's (10, 8, and 6 yo) meet him out in France next year. Has anyone used their points to stay at DLP? Since we have never been there, we are starting our plans from scratch. Any recommendations for hotels that will accomodate a family of 5? Do they have a dining plan like WDW? Basically, any info you can pass on will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Half Board Meal Plans (Disneyland Resort Paris):

Note that you must buy your park passes (not included with your points) for each person in the room and for every night of your stay. Tickets prices can be found here:

Annual passes are NOT an option when you stay at a DLRP hotel - you must buy the regular park passes for every night of your stay, and for each person in the room. We got the Gold (Dream) APs by staying at a non-DLRP hotel last time - and they gave us 20% off shopping and 10% off dining, magic hours, and a free drink (apéritif) with every dinner.

We paid cash to go to Paris Disneyland last year . . . and the next time we go we will use our points (as we've done another add-on since that visit). The only drawback is the bit about the APs and having to buy the regular passes for every night of your stay at the DLRP hotels. We'd much rather pay the few extra Euros and get the APs for their discounts.

Thank you for the info! I at least have a starting place. My head was spinning looking at all the information!

Wow! Things have certainly changed since we stayed on points in 2002 ... we were at the hotel that is conected to the park and it included park admission to both parks AND breakfast each day! ::yes::

I am beginning to like DVC changes less and less! :(

Hi Jennie! Actually, there is an advantage to the change (where park passes have been de-bundled from the room booking) . . . I can now stay for a week at a DLRP hotel on 160'ish points and just pay cash for my passes. The old way would have consumed an entire year's points for me - and I'd hate to give up 2-3 weeks of additional vacation in WDW just to buy DLRP park passes.

You could also look at an exchange to the Marriott nearby through II. If by chance this is a business trip, realize it's not possible to deduct or get reimbursed for the value or cost of the points. The only exception would be a company that would do per diem for the room and VERY few will do that.

I just visited DLP a few weeks ago. My best tip is to buy 20 shares of Disneyland Paris stock and become a shareholder so that you can join the shareholder club. You need to own 20 shares (cost of about $200) to get free membership. It gave me a 15% discount at restaurants AND at shops. That was a huge benefit.

Also, we paid cash and stayed offsite for much less than it would have taken in points to stay at Disneyland hotels. The train station right outside our hotel was one stop away from DLP. It literally dropped me off at the entrance to DLP. It was, in effect, much closer than staying on property (except for the actual Disneyland hotel.) Our hotel also was considered part of the official Disney hotel system so that we had the early morning magic hours benefit.

thanks all! While DH will be there for business, we'll be tacking this on the end of his trip, so the cost will be all ours. :)
The tip on becoming a shareholder is an interesting one. Inkmahm, where did you stay? The problem we run into a lot is that there are 5 in our family....

See the post above this one. We stayed there. I think their family rooms are only for 4 people though. Not sure if you could do a portable bed of some kind, I don't think so.

We just returned from a trip to Paris, where we spent the final four days of our 12 day trip out at DLP. We are DVC members, but we also have some family who are CM's, so we didn't need passes. Even so, they wouldn't let us use points without buying the length-of-stay passes. There were no rooms available at CM rate. :worried:

We ended up doing what Inkmahm suggested: we purchased 20 shares of stock and became members of the shareholder's club. That cost us a little over $300, but saved us nearly $1500 for our party of 8. We were able to book 2 rooms at the Hotel Cheyenne for 4 nights (even though the Club Actionairres web site indicates you can only book for 2 nights). The operators on the shareholder exclusive phone line were very helpful! We also gained access to the shareholder-only Club Mickey at the park entrance. :thumbsup2

Ack! I forgot about the room discount that you get as part of the shareholders club because I didn't use it! I think it was 10%?
