Using DME to transport luggage after 8:30PM

Hi all,

We are leaving in 4 days! WooHoo! This is our family's first trip to Disney World. Our sons are 7 and 9. I was wondering if is wise to count on the Disney Magical Express to get our luggage to our room in a timely manner when our plane doesn't land until 8:30 PM. I can just pack our PJ's and stuff in our carry-on, though and have everything we need for the first night. My travel agent is telling me to just handle our bags ourselves, since we are arriving late. I like the thought of not having to wait at baggage claim, and having our luggage delivered to our room. Does anyone have experience with using DME when arriving later in the evening?

You should pack your pjs (actually, whatever you'll need for the first 24 hours) in your carry-ons. Your checked luggage will be in your room up to three hours after you check in, so maybe not until midnight; or you can ask to have it held until morning.

Yes, you can still have DME handle your luggage and not worry about a late delivery. Just, tell bell services at your resort that you do not want your luggage delivered until the morning.

Personally, if DME can handle my luggage, I would let them!

I always, always, always pack my carry on with the thought in mind that my luggage may not make it.

We usually arrive after 10pm so usually lug our own luggage ourselves.

I think the luggage handling service is the best part of Magical Express. Pack whatever you may need for the night in your carry-on bag (which is always a good idea) and let Disney handle the rest. If you don't wish to hear that knock on the door late at night, tell the front desk to hold your bags for you, and put the Privacy Please hanger on your door. You will be all set.
