Using DME if I'm not actually flying in that day?

DD18 and I are headed to the World for a few days on the tail end of another event. I have rented a car for Friday-Sunday, and our Disney portion of our vacation runs Sunday-Tuesday. I already have DME set up for our return flights Tuesday night, but I would like to return my rental car to MCO on Sunday and then take DME to our resort.

Do I have to find a flight coming into MCO Sunday morning and "fake" it, or can I just call Disney and tell them I need to catch DME Sunday morning to our resort?

You can go the fake flight route, or you can just tell them you haven't finalized your flight plans yet.

If you call DME directly (866-599-0951) rather than calling the main Disney number, you can tell them exactly what you told us about your plans, and they will hook you up with a DME reservation. No need to report a fake flight. There's no requirement that you have to fly into MCO the same day you ride the DME bus.

But cast members at the main call center don't know that, and those are the folks who will say you can't take DME if you didn't fly in that day. They're wrong.

So call DME directly and they'll take care of you, no lying required. :-)

Who are you renting a car from?

If its Alamo you can return the car right a Disney They have to onsite locations one at the Dolphin hotel the other is the Car Care Center located right outside MK. They will then drop you off at your resort or what ever park you would like to go to. I would first go and check in to your resort and drop off your luggage at the resort then return the car.

This would save you time rather than driving all the way out to the airport, paying the tolls to get to the airport, turning in a car, lugging your luggage to the DME and then waiting to get on the bus, wait for the bus to be full enough to leave and then riding over to WDW.

** oh and you will NOT be charged a drop off fee because you will be dropping the car off at a different location than where you rented the car from!!!
