I have a Disney Visa & plan to use it for my next cruise. In doing so, I think I can get the $50 credit towards drinks. And also 6 months without interest? Can I also use my Disney Visa Rewards? Or does that cancel OBC & no interest? Thanks for any info.

We are leaving in April and just transferred out payment over to the Disney Visa. The way I understand it is that we still get out OBC from our travel agent and the perks from the card.

When you book with your Disney card tell them to add the $50 credit. Yes, you still get the 6 months interest free if you pay all of the cruise on your Disney Visa, including the deposit. You can use Disney rewards as an OBC .

Incidentally, you get 6 months interest free even if you are making payments. I put $650 a month on my card for a cruise just to keep the credit card bill from being too high in one month, and each time I added that payment, I had 6 months to pay off that portion of the cruise. Not that it's going to cost you any less, but it allows you a little leeway.

Is it 6-months no-interest any time you make a payment to DCL for any cruise? Even if you've been a cardmember for a few years? Does it matter if you used a different card to place your deposit?

Yes, any payment you make to DCL will qualify for the 0% interest offer (minimum of $100 I believe; smaller payments will have regular terms). Length of time having the card makes no different. You do not have to pay for the full cruise to take advantage of the 0% interest offer. It can be deposit, final payment, or any payments you make in-between.

I'm not entirely sure what this means (the bolded part)... using a TA doesn't matter. However, you must pay the FULL cost of the cruise with your Disney Visa to get the $50 OBC. If you used a different card for the deposit, even if you pay the rest with the Disney Visa, no OBC. Using Disney gift cards or any other form of payment for any part will also negate the OBC offer.

Enjoy your cruise!

Can you get the Disney visa $50 offer if you're already getting on oon board credit offer?

No, the onboard offers from Disney do not stack. But if your TA is going you a credit, that will stack. Since we book onboard, we haven't used the $50 credit offer since our first cruise.

If I paid my balance in full in January, would I still be able to call and getbthe $50 credit?

except for the disney rewards card, where you load the points from your visa. if you use that to pay a portion of the cruise, they consider it equivalent to using your disney visa, and you'll still get the $50 drink credit. i've done it twice, in feb 2016 and oct 2015. last time i specifically asked about it and was told they consider the rewards card just like using your visa, since the rewards come from visa spending.

as for other questions:

you're supposed to ask for the credit when you make final payment, but often they will add it later - just call and ask.

to get the credit, you have to make all payments with the disney visa, or rewards card. the 6 months interest-free will apply to any disney cruise payments, so if you split the cruise between your disney visa and another card, you will still get the 6 months interest-free on the portion you paid with the disney visa. however, you would not get the drink credit if you split the cost of the cruise between disney and non-disney cards.

if you pay your card off every month, be aware that after 4 months disney will apply your payments to the cruise first, so you will end up paying interest on the new charges. so basically, the 6 months without interest is really 3 or 4 months. this is what i've been told on the phone by disney reps three different times. because of this, i've always paid off my cruises in 3 months, just to avoid any hassle. so, i don't really have any experience with whether it's true or not. others have posted on here that's not happened to them. but, as i've been told it multiple times by different people, just wanted to mention it.

the drink credit is not combinable with the credit for on-board bookings. it usually is combinable with any credit your TA may be offering, though.

fwiw, on my feb 2016 wonder cruise i got a note onboard saying my $50 visa credit was only good for drinks, but in oct 2015 on the magic i had a note saying the credit was good toward anything. i did spend over $50 at the bars so i'm not sure where the credit was actually used, though. : )

not when you book but when you make your final payment...then you call for the $50 obc. In addition, all payments must be made with the Disney Visa
I recently booked another cruise for 2017. When booking the CM looked for the OBC and said at that time (2017) it had not been renewed yet. On our last cruise we had them add the code on booking. It all works out the same since we got the OBC. And yes, the entire trip has to be on the Disney Visa in order to get the interest free and OBC.

Side note...Love Chase bank. My card had a fraudulent change on it and they caught it immediately. The card, IMHO, is well worth it. We have used the rewards and perks for many a WDW and DCL trip.

Another perk of the Disney Visa on cruises is to call DCL or your TA and have them add a credit to your account Pre-cruise with your DV. You will get 6 months interest free on this amount also. I add up all that I think we will spend (tips, excursions, spa, etc..) and add this amount to our account before the cruise and get the 6 months perks.

I have always been told, however, that if you are using a pre-booked reservation with OBC and 10% discount, you do not qualify for the $50 credit even if you are using the Disney Visa to pay for the balance of the cruise.

And we have used multiple cards to pay off cruises --and it didn't matter whether we had used the Disney Visa for the initial deposit, we still go the 6 months no interest for using it as a payment (unless they have changed that since 2014).

Correct - if you have a onboard booking discount, you can not get the DV $50.

Any payment using your DV precruise will get you the 0% 6 months.

I was wondering about this part. We will be on the Dream in May and I wasn't sure if the credit was for drinks only or for anything. I'm thinking I can spend $50 on Mickey Ice Cream bars alone!! :rotfl2:

The Disney Visa $50 is for drinks only. No need to spend money on Mickey Bars they are included.
