Using Disney Visa Redemption Card for Food

We are leaving for Walt Disney World in three days. :hyper: We planned on paying for a lot of our meals using our Disney Visa Redemption card. (We are going to eat primarily at counter service locations.) I found the list of places on the Disney Rewards website that will accept the redemption card, and it seemed a little "light" to me. In doing some additional searching, I've noticed people mentioning that you are able to use the redemption card at any Disney operated restaurant or snack cart that accepts credit cards.

So what I'm looking for is first hand experience of using the card at places other than what is listed on the Disney Rewards website - particularly at the Magic Kingdom, where we typically spend the majority of our time. I can always ask when placing my order, but I'd sorta like to know ahead of time so we can budget our money a little better. The last thing I'd want is to have like $350 in rewards money left over at the end of our trip, which will most likely expire before we get to use it.

Thanks in advance!

I cannot recall NOT being able to use my rewards card at any restaurant. To be honest, I never even thought of looking for a list. I figured if it was at WDW, I could use the card. Examples of counter service that I used the card: Pizzafari, Pecos Bills, Pinocchio Village, carts with Mickey Bars (that accepted credit cards), Sunshine Seasons, Carmel shop in Epcot. Table service examples are: Yachtsman Steakhouse, Captain's Grille, Cape May Cafe, Mama Melrose.

This is over several trips. We typically use the rewards card for dining.

We use our card every trip, and the only "issue" I remember was an ice cream cart at Animal Kingdom that either didn't have a card swiper or it wasn't working. Even the Dippin' Dots cart at Typhoon Lagoon accepted the card. I don't think you'll have any problem burning up your points on food!

Have a great trip!

The only place we're ever come across that did not accept the card is the movie theatre in DTD.

Some of the food carts don't accept them, but a lot of them do. I have been able to use ours everywhere. I think at one time Yak and Yeti was not owned by Disney, I'm not sure if it's still owned by someone else they may not accept it.

I'm not sure about use of the Rewards Card specifically. We usually just "charge" meals and onsite shopping to our room and then use the Rewards Card to pay the room bill (I stop at the front desk a couple of times during the week to have them apply the credit before any charges are made to the credit card on file).

Make sure you are not confusing that list of places that give you a discount with the places that accept it.

Every Disney place that accepts credit card accepts the rewards card.

Any non-disney place (like stores in DTD) will not accept the card.

I was going to say something similar to pp....if you are staying on property you can just charge to room and then use your rewards card at hotel to pay balance. However, there have only been a few random carts/kiosks here and there that did not accept the rewards card...I think these also did not accept kttw cards as well.

We used ours at every table service restaurant we went to for the tip (we had free dining). Also, I can't recall anywhere we tried that we couldn't use it :confused3.

This is what we do to. And this way everyone in your party can use their KTTW card and the reward points are on your account. I never tried just using my rewards card for individual charges.

I will be honest and admit that I am a LOT less scared of carrying my KTTW card around in my pocket than my redemption card. That stays safely locked away (with only $25 on it) until I need to pay my bill. A bit before I settle up, I pull it out and charge it up, then I go down to guest services and pay everything off.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I hadn't thought about putting it on my KTTW card. That might be the route I'll take. Thanks again!
