Using Disney Vacation Account for on-site charges

Wasn't sure which board to post this on, but this seems like the best option...

Do you know if you can pay off your charge-to-room (at WDW) or charge-to-stateroom (on DCL) charges from a Disney Vacation Account? We don't have the dining plan, and will probably rack up a pretty good amount of charges for food at WDW, or for excursions on our cruise. I'd like to pay these using my DVA, but I'm not sure how to do so. Is there a way to "prepay" into an onsite/onboard account? Can I charge to my DVA from the guest services desk? I'm pretty sure I can't use my DVA as the "credit card" used to allow charging priveleges. And, as I understand it, your credit card will get charged every so often, so I'm not sure that I could even let a balance build up and then charge it anyway. I'd be interested to know if anyone's done this before, and if so, how.

You cannot use the DVA to pay for your room charges in Disney World. I don't know if you can use it on DCL. Since they really are two separately operated divisions of the Disney Company, I'm reluctant to say that it would be the same deal there. If you haven't posted on the DCL forum, you might want to ask them on there. A lot of cruisers use the DVA to pay for their trips and there might be a way to make a pre-paid credit to your stateroom account using the DVA.

There is no way to prepay your room charges with DVA for a WDW stay, but you can for the cruise. The phone number you need to call is in the FAQ section on the DVA website. Call it and tell them you want to purchase onboard credit. They will email you a receipt for your purchase and there will also be a note left in your stateroom upon boarding.
