I was just reading the 'how much money to take' thread and that gave me another thought I would start a new thread with. I am not planning on taking much money with me as I thought I would use the room pass and then settle at the end of the week. I can use a credit card which doesn't charge me much more than getting cash. Other than the restaurants in the Village is there anywhere in the parks your can't use it? If we just want a drink from one of the small vendors can they use it? I am already assuming that the shops and counter service can take it... has anyone tried?

Hi Constant,

It is no problem using the hotel id at any of the shops and restaurants in the park. However you will not be able to use it at the small gift stalls or the food stalls. Also I believe that there are certain places in Disney village that you won't be able to use it (Rainforest café and Planet Hollywood come to mind).
Another thing is that you can only use the id card until 11:00 AM on the last day (although I believe it is better to stop using it once I get the bill on the door on the last morning).
Also, make sure that this option is activated at reception when you check in, as sometimes the CM's at reception forget, and as the charge card looks exactly like the 'simple' hotel id used for pool access you may arrive in the park and have the card refused, so best to double check with reception when getting the card that the credit option is activated.

Hope this helps

Stephen

That's exactly how we operated last trip. Took Nationwide debit card and nationwide credit card. The debit card was used at ATM's for Euro cash (very little) and the credit card was used to pay off the bill at the hotel. We also used credit card in Planet Hollywood since they did not take ID.
It was a plesant surprise to find that transactions were converted at bank exchange rates not tourist so we saved again :goodvibes

We used the hotel charge card for most of our purchases when we went. But we also had the problem that we were not given the charge card when we checked in and we had to go back and get one. So just make sure that you get both the ID card and the charge card.

To get the charge card you need to leave the credit card number that you want to use to settle the bill and on your finally morning you find the bill left on your door handle. As long as you are happy with the bill the payment is taken without you having to go to reception, as far as I can remember.

We found it very convenient and will definitely be using it again when we visit in December.

(We also have the Nationwide cards, we got them specifically for use outside of the UK.)

Great idea......but I'm staying at the Holiday Inn......does anyone know if you can get an ID card from there for your spendies!?

5 days till we're off to Disney Paris.. :sunny: ...can't wait now! pirate:
