Using Disney Magic Express For Luggage Only

What difference does it make? Everyone has different situations, do whatever is in your best interest. Once my luggage was taken at my home airport, I have no clue where it is and do not care until it is delivered to my resort later in the day. Sometimes events or reservations happen and you cannot make the DME, so luggage go it’s way and I go mine, hopefully we will meet at our home destination.

depends on style as I assume pull behind carryons would not be allowed in parks
Maybe it's been a while since you went to the parks but people bring them all the time.
I wouldn't do it but others don't seem to mind at all.

DS doesn't have security, so I'm not being held up while someone's entire suitcase is being emptied and searched.

If I got in line behind someone with a large bag, that’s on me. A little more situational awareness would be in order.

no - you need to get on the bus

Not true. Feel free to check out the thread from the transportation forum linked to in one of the initial replies to this post.

When there are 10 people in line in front of me (and in all lines) I'm not scoping out who has an entire suitcase with them, since I wouldn't be able to see it.

Not accurate. The bags go to the resort no matter if someone is on the bus or not. Some folks..like us. Take the luggage on the bus as we want it asap when we get to our resort. We choose to take the luggage with us. We goto baggage claim and then ME. But, you dont have to take the bus. You can use DME for luggage transfer and get to WDW anyway you wish.

Yes. The bags will goto the resort with or without you on the bus.

Not true. the bags that are delivered when you attach the yellow tags do NOT get put on the buses that you ride. They are picked up and put in box trucks for delivery as soon as they are taken off the plane.

Bags that you put on the bus will not be delivered to the hotel by the bus driver. You have to be on the bus to take possession of your bags and bring them into the hotel yourself.

That said, if you check your bags and put the yellow tags on them, they will make it to the resort whether you are on the bus or not. BUT if you have carryons, you can't put those on a bus headed to your resort and expect them to be waiting for you when you get there if you are not ALSO on the same bus.

This discussion is about yellow tagged bags, so yeah, it is true.

Hoping to resolve any discrepancies or miscommunication :)

Magical Express is not a luggage transport service. It is a people transport service. Luggage transport is a bonus/perk.

Nobody matches luggage tags to checked-in passengers.N

Use this information as you see fit.

Magical Express is not a luggage transport service.
One tiny (in terms of rarity) glitch can leave you with a loss.

If your airline loses your bag then it might deny responsibility for such reasons as you did not put in a claim at the airport within 4 hours of landing.

Meanwhile if you also did not ride the bus then Magical Express can deny responsibility for your bag and you will have a hard time pressing a claim at your resort when neither you nor the bag went on Magical Express.

Thats what i meant...If you are like us..we put the bags on the bus and get them as soon as we get off at the resort. If the tags are on them i was trying to say..that they WILL get delivered whether you use the bus or not. I wasn't saying you could put the bags on the bus and then not get on....that wouldn't make sense.

This is 100% correct. If one wants their bags asap...then you can take them with you...if not, they go another way. NOT on the MDE bus. One could get to WDW anyway they want...their bags will get there when they get there...what around 4 hours later at your room? We always use MDE to get to resort. Its too easy not to.

Right - I believe that was what the OP was questioning - whether they could put their luggage/carryons on the bus, then go somewhere else and have the bags dropped off by the ME driver. It can be confusing if someone doesn't understand how the yellow tags work (that they aren't put underneath the same bus that drops you off at your resort)!

Then you’d never know what the hold up is. I’ve seen them take 5 minutes to root through a simple handbag. Hardly matters how big the bag is if you get someone like that. And if a line is taking that long, consider switching lines.

I don’t recall ever seeing anyone permanently damaged by such a situation, though.

There is nothing in the OP indicating that’s their plan. They say they want it for the luggage delivery part; that’s not putting carryons under the bus.
