We (DH, DSis, and myself) were thinking about buying one Disney Gift Card that we used for Tips Only. We are on the dining plan and would just like to have most expensive paid for before we leave. I already over estimated on what our tips would be at our TS resturants. Can this be done?? Has anyone done this???

This is what I would do- charge all the tips to your room. Then go down the morning of checkout, and settled the bill with the giftcard. I would call and make sure they will take a gift card. But we did this with a seperate credit card then they had on file- so I know you can settle the bill with another form of payment. So I'd check.

Not a problem at all. Just be sure that you keep track of the balance. When you use a card for the tip, the balance of the card on the receipt is not always after the tip has been deducted, but before.

My suggestion would be to ask the server to bring you a receipt with the gift card balance after they take the tip. We just came back and a guest of mine paid this way and got a bit confused the last day as to the balance.

Thank you for the tip! I will be sure to do that! :goodvibes

We are on the Dining Plan as well and have been purchasing gift cards as countdown gifts for the members of our group for incidentals etc... Good to know that they can be used for gratuities. Planning to use them at the F&W kiosks, too!

We always purchase gift cards to use for any extra menu items we order (like cocktails) and tips! It works out great for us.

That is just what we did last Dec. We put all of our tips on our KTTW card then went to guest services the night before check out and settled the bill with our Disney Rewards card. We had $63 on our card and $63 on tips. How cool was that!:hippie:

And paid for tips, beverages, appetizers etc with them. They are accepted like cash and easier to handle. I also used them to buy pins too.
I say go for it and enjoy your trip!

Yes, I just did this last week. We were on the dining plan and when the bill came I gave them the gift card and let them know how much tip to put on the gift card and it worked well. They will give you a receipt with the remaining balance on your gift card also
