Using Disney GC for park tickets

so a naive question from a newcomer... let’s say we are planning a trip to Disney 2 years down the road and plan on telling relatives to just give our girls Disney gift cards for their bdays and holidays when they ask (I feel more comfortable saying this than asking for money...). So, we will eventually have a pile of gift cards that we will be using to purchase park tickets. Can we do this online? Do we need to speak with a rep when buying the tickets? Do we convert multiple gift cards into a single gift card first? I’d like to know the process before we start our plan! Tia!

Go to the website on the back of the card. You can combine all the cards, then buy tickets online.

This is correct, but I wanted to add: There are 2 types of Disney gift Cards, one is the Disney Store gift card and is not valid for the parks. Just wanted to make sure in case you have anyone that may purchase a Disney Store gift card for your girls.

Oh I had no idea there was a difference in cards. Thank you for clarifying. So the ones that are sold at most retail stores like CVS, are those general Disney gift cards?

Also, just FYI -You can combine 5 gift cards with a maximum of $1000 on each on the Disney gift card website.

For the most part yes the ones at Cvs and target are good just have them check the back that says it can be used at Disney parks.

You can combine up to $1000 on a gift card. If you choose to save the gift card in your account then you can only save 5 at a time. You can always delete a card and add a new one.

As for paying for your tickets I believe it Is still allowed online. Can’t remember how many you can use per transaction. Worse case you have to call.

Just to clarify for the OP, but you can combine more than 5 gift cards, but you can only do up to 5 at a time, still only a $1000 balance though.

I tend to keep my main card listed and then just add cards as I get them and then delete the card that then has the zero balance. This way I do not have to do a whole lot of them all at once, but as I get them.

Yes, exactly, sometimes I am not the best at explaining things.

Are you certain that your relatives will be okay being told to just get them Disney gift cards for a couple of years, rather than picking out actual gifts?

I’d imagine they’d give a “little”gift (book, small toy) and a gift card! Thanks everyone for all of the information.
