using disney dollars for tipping?

does anyone know if you can use Disney dollars for tipping when at WDW? I know you can use them for food, but for gratuity??

our last day we went to give a tip to our housekeeper and in addition we left the rest of the Disney Dollars. She told us she cannot use them and gave it back for us to get something for the kids?

I wouldn't.

We had dinner at Boma one night. We had DDP to cover the meal. I had one drink. I used the DDE card for 20% off the drink so it was $5.96. I left $10 Disney Dollars to cover the drink and figured the waitress could keep the rest.

Well, on check-out day there was a lovely CHARGE on our room for $10 from Boma! There was NO WAY I was going to leave WDW after being charged $20 for a $6 drink. I went to the front desk and the CM there said she couldn't help me. (We were staying at AKL.) I went to Boma. The manager came out and said she would need my receipt. I tore the room apart and OF COURSE that was the only receipt I couldn't find. The Boma manager went back and looked at the receipts from that night based on the time of our ADR and the name of the server. I think our friends may have had their receipt to help her pinpoint what time we paid. She had no idea what happened to the Disney Dollars and had no explanation of WHY the server charged $10 to my room WITHOUT my permission! The drink didn't even cost $10, that was how much we left to cover it!

After that ordeal we realized the server can charge whatever they want to the guest's room, so we don't walk out and leave the tip in the folder anymore. I save ALL of my receipts (I found the Boma receipt after we got home) and I check our room charges every other day so I can deal with surprises.

thank you both, I kinda was thinking that way but sometimes we have extra and instead of cashing them in I thought I would ask.
