Using Disney Bell Services for DCL Transfer

That’s not correct. You have to leave them in the hallway; in front of your door. The bellman don’t have keys to your room.

Last time I did it, they definitely did. I left my bag inside the door, went down to get breakfast, and then back to shower and get ready for the day. (I kept a pair of leggings and a t-shirt out to wear to pick-up breakfast (in addition to what I was wearing on the ship, obviously) and tossed it in my backpack. So there was no need to "shower and be all ready" by breakfast time.

On the SHIP you leave the bags in the hall outside your cabin for pick-up the night before debarkation. But at a WDW resort you leave it inside your door.

Oh, great to know, thanks! I suppose you had to stay in the room, then? I thought we could use the opportunity to go to breakfast while bags were collected.

When we stayed at POR, we left the room with the bags near the door and went to breakfast. Got back from breakfast and the bags were gone.

We have done DCL transfers a few times from WDW and we always left the bags IN the room. They do have access to your room. We most recently left Coronado Springs on January 11th and our bags did not get picked up from the room until 8:00 but that was because everything was delayed that morning because roads within WDW were closed due to a Run Disney event. Our bus did not leave the resort until 10:00 am and we still made it to the port before boarding began. Hint....don't rent a car and try to return it to the Car Care Center by MK on the morning of a Run Disney event.....I tried returning our rental for well over an hour and could not because of road closures. Had to call Alamo and explained the situation and they picked up the car at our resort after the road reopened and we were on the bus.

On a side note.....we had airtags in our bags and we were tracking our bags. The truck did not arrive to the port until about 3:00 pm....we were watching the progress on our phone and actually saw the truck pulling into the port area.

You and everyone else who have done that are probably correct. I left mine outside the door. I could’ve misread the instructions. Nevertheless, it arrived onto the ship on time.

It was my understanding that bags had to be left in front of the door (for the whole night if you wanted to sleep), and that they would collect at 7am. Is this correct?

Asking as I am doing the DCL ship transfer for the first time in April. Thanks!
We have left the bags inside the room. They do start at 7 am, although they have not arrived at our room until nearer 8 am the last two times we have used this service, once at the MCO Hyatt and once at Saratoga Springs Resort. We have gone to breakfast leaving an envelope with gratuity atop the tagged bags to be picked up, with a note on the outside indicating the number of bags. We have never had a problem with bags arriving outside our stateroom once onboard.

I will say, if you have a backpack or other small bag that you're taking with you (THAT is allowed) - or multiple for larger parties...I'm solo - put those elsewhere so they don't get picked up just in case. When I was using transfers from Riviera, I put my backpack and bag with wine in the bathroom and shut that door. You don't have to be that extreme (I was in a Tower Studio so it was small), but I'd at least put them on the other side of the room so they don't get taken accidentally.

I remember way back in 2005 we stayed at the poly before cruise and we were to leave the bags outside for pickup.

Staying at Riviera before our cruise. This was in the email I received today.

I can't imagine that they would have you leave luggage outside of your room since not all WDW resorts have indoor corridors. For some reason I thought the first time we stayed at MCO Hyatt 20 years ago we did leave our bags outside of the room.

Bingo. "Near the entrance door" I guess is what got interpreted as "outside the door". But all you have to do is put them next to your door.

We did transfers from Coronado about a week ago. My friend had her suitcase ready to go-they knocked on the door right about 7am and she handed them her suitcase. Mine was not ready to go. I'd heard you could just leave it in the room, but that freaked me out. I wheeled it to the meeting spot and handed it to the CM checking us in-he took it and got it on the truck for me. FWIW, when we checked in they asked how many suitcases we had left in our room, so it seems that they track that and if we had left any bags they would have gone to get them. But that made me wayyyyy too worried.

(And yes, I know if everyone did what I did, it would slow down check in. Now that I know the process I'd feel more comfortable leaving my bag in my room and telling them that at check in. But this being my first time doing DCL transfer I wanted to give my suitcase the absolute best chance to make it on the ship!).

Hello,

I know it’s a bit of a hassle, but let them take the luggage. When I used DCL transfers, they picked up my bag at 7 AM, and it was on the ship ahead of me. The silver lining was that our bags were among the first to be delivered to our stateroom.

On the other hand, when we didn’t use DCL transfers and carried our luggage to the port ourselves, it didn’t arrive until later in the evening.
Interesting, I've had the opposite experience. When we used DCL transfers we didn't get our bags until after we'd sailed out. I have a tracker on my bag, and it didn't even show up at port until we were at the muster drill.

When I've dropped my luggage with porters (after driving myself), I've usually had my bags before sail away (even if just before).

I think it depends on the ship and how fast you get your luggage in the cabin. It took along time when we were on the Treasure last week.

Yeah, I was on the Treasure last week as well. So that makes sense.
