Using DDP and TIW question - what about the tip?

Hi everyone,

I hope you will be able to clarify a question that I have regarding using both TIW and DDP together. We are going on a marathon trip to WDW and we are attempting to see if TIW would work for us. I have used the DIS search and I am clear that TIW can be used for all extras (drinks, appys) but I am confused with the tip. We have always been on the DDP alone and pay the tip at the end of the meal but how does this work with DDP and TIW?

For example: We are eating at Skippers Canteen. We both order appys to start ($10 each) and 2 drinks each ($10 each). When we cash out we will be paying for $60 worth of extras. We are on the DDP so we will be using 2 TS credits ($60 "credit").This is where my confusion starts about the tip. We have to tip on the 2 TS credits and our extras.

Our bill will be $60 extras plus 18% tip on $120 (2TS credits ($60) plus extras ($60)) right? Does that mean that we can use the TIW card's 20% saving the full amount (credit and TS credit)? Or do we only receive the TIW discount on our $60 extras and still have to pay for the tip on the 2TS credits?

I'm so sorry that this sounds confusing. Hopefully you guys are experts and can make some sense of this dilemma.

Thanks so much
Mandy

Making it easy - you will get two bills.
One for your DDP items and one for everything else.
DDP you will add the tip based on the dollar value of what you got.
TiW will apply to everything else, 20% discount will be calculated with automatic 18% tip added.

You're going to have to buy a ton of appetizers and drinks to ever make TiW pay off if you're also going to be on the DDP...especially for only two people.

Thanks for the quick responses! You made it clear for me!

It doesn't seem worth it for us this time

Thanks again,
Mandy

You'll get two separate bills. TIW will apply to one but it won't apply to the other. You'll tip on both bills although 18% will be automatically added to the TIW bill. (It will also be added to the DDP bill if you are a party of 6 or more)

Unless a regular visitor that is only on DDP occasionally. Like we would book FD once per year but be there quite a few other trips where we only use TiW.
