Using CS credits to purchase Snacks

Currently at the food courts, I have been able to purchase 3 snacks using only 1 CS credit. I have done this at All Stars, POP, and the Poly.
My question is; can you use this process at any other locations?
The snack carts at the theme parks can't/won't do it, I've tried at multiple locations. But what about places like the candy store at DTD, or the Main Street Bakery.
Does anyone know where the line is drawn? Or is it just a matter of CM knowledge of policy? Our family would like to know before our next trip in December.
Our family doesn't quite use up all of our CS when we're there, but we do consume alot of soda/water, and our snacks go quickly.

Mikey, did they let you do that at All Stars Movies and what kind of snacks were you allowed to "trade" for a CS ? I doubt we'll use more than 4 CS and we'll have 16 ! Snacks, however,we can never get enough of those. :p

I read on another thread that at Main Street Bakery, you can have 2 snacks and 1 drink for 1 CS.

I think that's just a regular CS "meal" at the bakery: entree, dessert and drink. At the bakery, there's really no difference between an entree and dessert, so you get two! :)

We tried this at the Goofy candy/sweet shop in Downtown Disney in August. Noone knew if they could do it (not even the manager) so they said to try it. We were out of snack credits, but had 5 CS credits left. It didn't work. I think the problem is that their location was only set up to charge snack credits.

We also asked at the Beach Club Marketplace and after debating with the manager, they had said we could. We didn't, though, because we really didn't like the food offerings there and were hoping to spend our "money" somewhere else.

We probably should have just gone with the Earl of Sandwich, but given the time when we were there, it was breakfast and I don't think egg sandwiches would have kept in the car until lunch time. Does anyone know if the Earl will make lunch sandwiches early in the morning?

They allowed us any 3 items that qualified as a snack.

Last week, while at POP, I tried to exchage CS for snacks and was told by 5 different CMs (2 of which were managers) that they didn't do this anymore. One manager told me that they had done it in the past, but had to put a stop to it. :confused3

I had 5 CS left over and was leaving for the airport. They did allow me to get one bottled drink and one dessert item (yeah for rice crispie mickey heads) for each CS. His comment to the cashier was to ring them up as CS, I was simply refusing the entree part of the meal. I even tried to get them to count a piece of fruit  as the entree and they said that would not work. They tried ringing it through that way and it didn't work.

It seems that it would be fair to be able to trade in a CS for 3 snack options. Luckily, I had the free dining plan, so I didn't fuss about it. Now if I have to pay for the plan next time? I'll probably push a little harder knowing that others have had this opportunity.

We had a wonderful trip and loved the dining plan. We plan on returning soon! Anybody know of free dining in the future???

I hope it was just for the duration of free dining plan ! I just dont get what the big deal is. A whole meal has to cost a LOT more than 3 snacks ! Seems like they just want you to pay extra for snacks and waste those extra CS.. not cool :guilty:

Most every time-and-quantity limited pre-payment plan factors in some amount of non-usage. This isn't a Disney phenomenon, but is a basic principle of pricing regardless. To bend the rules of the plan undercuts the work that went into determining the correct pricing.

We were also told at POP that they could no longer allow a snack in place of an entree. I'm actually glad - it made me reconsider my options, and we ended up getting Chef Salads and cold sandwiches that we ate at the airport.
