Using any Magic Band under your name as room key

hi there! Quick question. Would Amy Magic band associated with you in MDE work as your room key? Or can you only use the one that Disney supplies you for that trip?

Any band in your MDE that is still active (and YOU have to deactivate bands) can work as room key and ticket and fp+ and photopass etc.

Although any band works, my experience has been that I had to take the band to the front desk and have it programmed for the door and resort parking access. Once it was programmed it worked fine.

My experience has been totally opposite - I have well over a dozen bands on my account and they all work interchangeably. No action necessary.

The magic bands I use are ones I've purchased over the last few trips. The only one I've ever had trouble with I finally had to quit using. No one could get it to work right long term.

I had exactly that experience during my Beach Club stay last week - each individual band had to be activated at the desk. This, however, was because of a problem in their system that had to be overcome. When we moved to the Floridian later in the week, the same bands worked immediately with no action at the desk. This is how the system is *supposed to* work.

Any magic band that is linked to your account should be able to access a room that is also linked to your account.

Perhaps I've either had bad luck or bad bands. I've only tried it maybe three times, and each of those times I had to go to the desk. So while I still take a "backup band" in the suitcase, I don't use it unless I lose the current band. Now that I have a Magickeeper to put the puck into, I don't worry about losing it as much anyway. I'm glad others have had better luck using the older bands.

The only quirk we've run into is that the bands wouldn't open the pool gate until they had been used to open the room door.
