I just realized that there is no way we can check in before going to parks in December if I we are to make our FP times. We will have a car. Since we're going to DHS and we have a TSMM FP, I really want to be there. Can we just check into DHS using a MB from a past visit? AP's are on the MP.

I used my old one when I went in March without checking in. No problem, as long as you have valid admission and your band is still activated it should work fine.

Just don't be surprised if you have to go to the front desk at check-in. Our bands didn't work in the room because we did this. We were told we had too many active bands. Wasn't a huge problem but it did cause us to have to get it straightened out at the front desk.

I highly recommend you deactivate any bands you are not going to use. They have numbers on them, the bands are listed by the numbers and are on your MDE account. I never keep any active except the ones we are going to use.

As stated your APs are actually on your MDE account not the actual bands. Whichever bands you decide to use, as long as they are active, you have access to your AP.

We did advance check in and completely bypassed the front desk and went straight to our room.

Does this mean we are going to have issues when we travel in December? We activated 2 APs in October and have other MBs on MDE, should we deactivate the past MB to avoid problems? TIA

You may or may not have trouble. I had 4 active bands last time I visited with no problems. I have read about others who did and also that if you have more than 8 active that is too much. No idea if that is a rumour or not. If I was you I would deactivate the ones you are not bringing with you. Thst may save you time and aggrevation on vacation. You can always re activate them later if you want to.

Just for the sake of clarity, there's absolutely no need to check into a resort at all so long as there are admission credits tied to your account. Your MB identifies YOU and nothing else. What the SYSTEM allows after identification has nothing to do with the band at all and depends of what your account is capable of doing (tickets, enter a room, charge on a room, FP for Dwarf Train at 10:05am on 11-27-15, etc.). The only disadvantage of going to the parks without checking in first is that you will no be able to charge as that is a fcn of your resort stay.

Again, think of your MB as an IDENTIFIER of YOU and that is ALL it is.

If you need to check in in order to activate park tickets tied to the resort booking, I think that's an entirely different thing but I doubt that's the case here. I don't think those are added to your account until you DO check in but I admit I'm not really sure.

Glitches happen. One "pet" explanation CMs have now is that you have too many. So they do something on the account, and the thing they do is deactivate. THey could probably do other things, like they used to, before they decided it was b/c of too many.

But if it were THE cause, then EVERYONE with multiple MBs would have problems, every time. Since that isn't so (I have 8 or 9, no issues, much like supersnoop), it's a glitch. If a glitch happens it can be fixed.

OP, just in case you don't know...you know that you can check in as early as 6am, right?

I have twelve active bands an no problems. The only reason to deactivate a band is if you lost or discarded it.

Absolutely correct. The system holds NO finite limit on the number of bands (or tickets) that any individual can hold active at any given instant in time (Actually, this is not technically accurate but the discussion is beyond the scope of this course and even then is WAY beyond numbers being quoted here and elsewhere and depends even then on several different variables to kick in the limiter.).

If CMs are "fixing" things by "deactivating MB's", they are actually doing something else as well. God only knows what, but what I do know is that "deactivating" a MB doesn't trigger any special behavior in the system that isn't already available. Now, to figure out what's actually going on when a CM says this is what they are doing, we'd have to see what else they are doing too. What I do know is that they are doing something else also. This I know for a fact. ;) We'd have to look at very specific situations to know what the fix (work around) actually was.

Unfortunately, as is the case with many things IS/IT; many of these "incidents" never get reported because the CM gets beyond the problem by using some other method and then the problem (assuming there ever really WAS one, which is a leap because many times it is a system usage/training issue and NOT actually a system problem) never gets addressed because it was never properly reported. :(

It's a vicious and finger-pointing cycle.
