Using American Express points for a rental car...

I just found this out, of course too late for me (I am going to try to upgrade), but am passing it on for those of you who may use AE membership rewards points to get a rental car. The vouchers that you get from AE only cover the rental of the car, not the taxes, etc.....now in saying that it is not all car rental agencies that do that. I believe one agency will allow the voucher to cover the taxes too, not sure which one. So, if you are using these vouchers, for car rentals, make sure you take that into consideration when choosing your car... upgrade if necessary....I would rather upgrade then have the car agency keep my money and me have to pay out of pocket for the taxes etc..
