Hi fellow Canadians!

We saved up and used air miles to book our family's flights to and from WDW next year. We actually have some air miles left over -- besides buying park hopper passes with them (which I dont think we can do, as we already booked the room and passes and got the free dining promo) is there anything else WDW-related that we can use our air miles for?

What we did was book a package for the free dining. We'll be there for a week so the package tickets are only for 2 days (which is the mimimum package amount I think). We then used airmiles and bought 5 day tickets to get us into the parks for the rest of the week.

You could transfer your package to Airmiles or Marlin Travel and use the airmiles to get a discount on the package.

Rental car, or tickets for universal, or seaworld. I think you can also get tickets to Blueman group, Wet and Wild, Aquatica and Busch Gardens, but I could be wrong on some of them.

Use airmiles to book one night at a Universal hotel to get FOTL privileges at Universal

That is an awful lot of airmiles to use for such a small price difference.

What about using your airmiles for a rental vehicle while you are down there in case you might want to go somewhere other than WDW. I know, I know going somewhere other than WDW?!?!?! :scared1: But there are folks who do! :rotfl:

Maybe you would like a new camera? Or you could use them for some gift cards to get you and your family some new clothes for your trip?

I was thinking about doing a gift card thing. Can you get a Disney store gift card? I didn't see that you could.

It's too bad we can't convert our airmiles to gift cards to use at WDW! Oh well.

Thanks to all have replied this far!

I use my AM for park tickets. I get the largest ticket that my miles will buy and then when I get to WDW I upgrade to 10 day no expire tickets. I've done it twice and the 10 day tix last me through 3 trips. I most recently did it in March of this year. I got 10 day premium passes which will last for several trips to come.

In August we had a free dining trip and I bought the required 2 day pass to get FD and have those tickets also stashed away for a future trip.....possibly this coming July when my oldest DD might be able to join us.

In my case this works to buy the 2 day tix and use my AM for multiday passes. We stay for between 10-14 days each time .....so to pay approx $180 each to cover food for that many days is well worth the cost.

In general, the best use of AM is for items not flights, hotels or car rental. However, you can get gift cards for National and Alamo that will cost fewer AM and actually get you better value.

Well, bought the ticket for my DS7 3 years ago with airmiles and it's been sitting doing nothing because on trips since we've done the dining package. As far as renting a car, well if I really wanted to drive around and see other things I wouldn't be staying at WDW for a week. Maybe someday we'll do that but for now, staying in WDW for the week suits us fine. Camera's... have 2 of them and a camcorder. I don't think the airmiles you use to buy tickets is that bad. Try looking at aeroplan tickets:scared1: Doing it this way I am saving almost $300.00 off the price of the package which is money to spend at the parks. I considered using them for flights but they no longer have them available out of DTW and I refuse to fly out of YYZ at the prices they charge

Have you booked your flights yet? If not, you may want to apply for the BMO airmiles CC. It is free, but if you pay $95.00 to get 1 airmile for every $15, you save 25% on airmile trips (IE: if the flights were originally 2,000 airmiles, with the card, they would be 1,500 airmiles.) When my family of six went at Christmas time last year, I saved 4500 airmiles by using this option

Already booked! We did this as well :)

I dont think using airmiles for WDW tickets is a bad use of airmiles at all. But if you are already using those 2 day passes in addition to the 5 day ticket, it would have only been an extra $100 to change them to 7 day tickets. As opposed to 2225 airmiles. Thats like trading in 2225 airmiles for $100.
My advice would be to just use the airmiles tickets now and save the 2 day passes for a future trip.

We plan on using our airmiles for our WDW tickets this Jan and then upgrading them to an AP when we get there.

When we went last year I originally planned to use airmiles to purchase a couple of tickets. When FD came out, we booked that instead.

What I did was cash in airmiles for Shell gas giftcards. We always fill up on payday, so every payday I put $100 gas in the vehicle using the giftcards and took $100 cash out of my bank account and put it into my disney stash. Kind of a round about way, but it was still using my airmiles for my trip!

For our next trip I have enough to fly us all there. Can't wait!
