Has anyone booked via AAA using an agent? I am wondering if I should go to AAA, speak with a TA and let him/her help me plan?
We did that last year when we planned a trip to Salem, Mass. It was really kinda useless. The TA didn't know much about the area, we knew more having been there once before. All the TA diud was call hotels to see if there was a vacancy for the dates we wanted and then booked them. She did this while we were right there. I could have done that!
However, planning a Disney trip is so involved, I'm sure I'd get a TA that is well versed in Disney, which may help. OR, I can boook everything on my own and still get the AAA discount.
Also, can you use a AAA discount AND other discount codes or is it one or the other?
My mom and I are going to AAA this Saturday to at least get some information, but I'd love input from anyone with first hand experience.

Logistically: If you can find a AAA TA that is well versed in Disney, it can be a help. But otherwise, it's just a layer between you and the actual booking agent at Disney.

Budgetarily: In the absence of any better discounts from Disney direct, AAA can be a good thing for members. You can get the AAA room discount if you're a member even if you go through Disney, but the only way to get the AAA room discount with a package deal is to go through AAA. So that gives you another option.

Regarding using AAA discount with other discounts - no, you can't do that. It's either one or the other. I've found it good to be a AAA member so that I have that as a fall-back if Disney doesn't have a discount for the period I plan on going, though.

We used a AAA agent when we went last June and she was really helpful. She made all of our ADR for us. I already knew what I wanted, so I didn't really need much input from her, though.

When we book our next trip, I will probably go with AAA again.

Not everybody likes them, though.

I almost always go with AAA when booking most of our travel. Our AAA TA is great and I trust her to do the best for me. Not to mention the room discounts...

The thing to keep in mind with any TA is that unless they've been to the place you're going, they're really not going to know much more than you'd be able to find out for yourself by doing research.

That being said, I'm working with a knowledgable AAA TA for our trip. She has actually been to WDW a number of times and came highly recommended on these boards. She also happens to be a few hundred miles from where I live...which means, if your area TA's are clueless, you don't have to use them. You can use any TA. Obviously I can't go to her office and sit there to chat with her, but I can call her anytime or email her and she gets back to me. I have recommended her to others on the board also.

I like working with my AAA agent. I think we're a team in this, and she's very knowledgeable about Disney. :yay:

Hi, we always go thru a TA, it makes us more comfortable knowing that they have an inside to the resorts. Sometimes they can get you things tat you didn't even know exsisted.

The only problem is that there is no discounts allowed with the free Disney Dining Plan. It still saves you alot of money. More for the DW to spend. :lmao:

Hi there kelleigh1!

You have many valid points! I am going to the local AAA office tomorrow to get information. I'll have to see how knowledgable the TA are on WDW. I would love to be pointed in the direction of your TA though =)

I kinda figured some promotions wouldn't be valid if a AAA membership was being used =/
