one of the most frequent complaints DISboards admins receive is about disagreements between users.

More often though it's a misunderstanding that is the result of the impersonal nature of this kind of communication, usually it's someone trying to be cute or funny and failing miserably to communicate that. Sometimes its not a communication issue, people can just be jerks. That's life, especially on the internet. But there options to handle it.

Instances where a user has violated policy it's pretty clear what is to be done and that person's privileges are removed for some period of time ranging from a day to indefinitely. But that's not the only remedy.

There are are couple of options you have to handle situations where you were offended, creeped out, or otherwise take issue with a post or private message here:

1. just move on. Move on to the next post or delete the private message. This solution is quick and easy and keeps your blood pressure down.
2. ignore list. This is great for those jerks described above. From User CP above, select edit ignore list and add their username. You wont see posts by this person anymore.
3. discuss via private message. The person probably wont realize their communications are being taken differently than they intended until someone lets them know. A direct yet polite private message can clear a lot of things up and has been known to create friendships.
4. and finally report to an admin. You should always do this in cases of harassment, spam or anything of questionable legality.
