Now Bob, that's another sore subject. when I left NY the sales tax was 8.25 to 8.75 depending on county. Not much different.

Now I'm not trying to dig NY. It's a beautiful state, the people are great and I loved growing up there. But MAN those folks in Albany love their tax revenues!
