Useless facts/Chit Chat Thread

Ever wonder what the speed of lightning would be if it didn't zigzag?

We had a local guy who worked for an ice delivery company who was struck a few years ago. A couple years later, the guy was struck again!!!!! Survived both times, but I bet he stays inside during lightening storms now.

Turn off the hearing aids before walking outside right now. Time for the air show at the base this weekend and the Blue Angels are practicing this afternoon. The T-Birds weren't right on top of us like this last year, but I swear today it sounds like we're on the business end of a strafing run. The dog was raising hell every time they came over. DW brought her inside and she ran straight to her kennel. She's sitting in there growling at the door every time the jets come over the house. I guess she's protecting us from the US Navy. :lmao:

One of the perks of growing up in Annapolis was seeing the Blue Angels practice. They'd fly right over the house, shake it like an earthquake, and get close enough you could see how many cavities the pilot had! The dogs never did like it as much as I did :confused3

I have a buddy who flew C-130s and C-141s - he thought he was a fighter pilot. The really weird guys though fly choppers - they're all crazy, especially the ones who fly attack helicopters - they're totally insane and I mean that only in the best sense of the word!

I got another story about a chopper ride and a crazy evaluator I had in the swamps in North Carolina, but that's a story that is best told over a couple beers and, in fact, seems to get better the more beers I have.

I love an air show. The Angels are always impressive. It's kinda hard to see an air show, watching the action in the sky, when you have 3 kids to keep track of on the ground. At least one of them couldn't move very fast, that helps. :rotfl:

It was also, hands down, the coolest weather for the air show weekend since we moved here. In August, no less. I'm worrying what January is going to be like. :scared1:

Be careful what ya wish for there buddy.:rolleyes1 Believe you me..there are things that gravity and time do to a body that only a good underwire bra can correct. :lmao: Ahh...to be young again.

All I know is that man or woman..you have to have a shirt and shoes on to go in any store around here. So there wouldn't be any naked women coming in for doughnuts! I believe you can get a ticket for driving without a shirt on as well.... that's for the men!

Always hate taking the trailer back to the storage lot. I enjoyed having it here for a couple of weeks, puttering around and adding some small mods to it. Taking it back just seems like admitting that I won't get to use it for a while.

I'd bet there was no one topless at the storage lot either.
Sorry bout hav'n to put the camper back,,kinda like hav'n to drop the family pet off at the kennel, :guilty:

I didn't go camping once this summer (what little we had) - just no time.......

Neither did I for the same reason. And now I'm in the middle of this floor repair on a camper I'm probably going to trade in.

Useless fact of the day:

Your stomach produces a new layer of mucus every two weeks so that it doesn’t digest itself.

Dieting
ESTIMATING CALORIES
To estimate the calories in a wedge of rich dessert, make a fist and place it next to the base of the wedge. Count each knuckle that spans the base of the wedge. Each knuckle represents 100 calories.

the trick to this is eating your dessert with someone who has extremely large hands and let them count the calories for you, :thumbsup2.

Look'n like our first (and only) trip this summer will be the Fort in Oct.

I haven't been camping this summer either!!! Last time the trailer was out was Memorial Day at the Fort!! We've just been too busy with the garage build and then I had to spend the entire month of July and a lot of August working 80 hours a week.

Frank, you and Denise need to come to Natchez Trace September 18th - 20th!!!!
