Used Points For the First Time

I booked a cruise on points today. This was my first use of points since becoming a member in December. The process was very smooth. The only thing that was a minor problem was not being able to pick the room number (at least I wasn't asked).
I bought a resale and it came with points that I didn't have to pay for so I only had to use my 2009 points and borrow 20 points from 2010. This made for a very cheap cruise.

If the category you selected is sold out, they do sell a certain number of "guarantee" category rooms. We had this on our 2007 Med Cruise. If that is the case, they will assign you a room somewhere around 30 days or so prior to sail date. You are guaranteed that category or higher. Some report being assigned a higher category, but we were assigned the category that we had booked.
