We just got back from Disneyland California, what a great trip!!! We used our DVC to book 4 nights at Disney's Grand Californian. We reserved a standard room, but we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite on the conceirge level as part of the year of a million dreams. The room was unbelievable, it overlooked California Adventure. It was also our 10 year anniversary, we recieved gifts, roses in our room and a special private viewing balcony for Fantasmic. They went above and beyond and we really appreciated everything!!! We would never have booked the Grand Californian if we couldn't have used our DVC points.
By the way Disneyland was fantastic, very nostolgic and quaint. Some of the attractions we felt were superior to the same attractions at WDW. California Adventure was also a great time, with incredible theming.

Thanks for your post! We have been talking about using our points at DL in place of one of our WDW trips next year. It's great to hear that it worked out so great for you! Congrats on your 10 years, ours is in August. We'll be spending it at BWV.

We had a similar experience. We used our points to stay at Disneyland Hotel and found it to be wonderful. Loved the walk through Downtown Disney. If not for DVC we would probably have stayed offsite and really missed out on a very special hotel.

Congrats on the room upgrade. Your the first people I have heard of that got an upgrade as part of the Million Dreams, so I think you lucked out. We have had those suites before and they are really nice to come back to at the end of the day. As a DL veteran I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and have positive feedback for the boards!:thumbsup2

Really nice to know we have options.

Where do you fly in for Disney california, and is it long trip from the airport?

DO they have a Magical Express in California.

Any tips appreciated.

Yes more about the picture!

We moved from GA to WA state and our AP's expire in April. Making a trip to WDW for Presidents week, (are we crazy??)

We too will be visiting the west coast for the first time and probably more often.:cool1:

I live in So Cal, am an AP and a DVC member and recommend flying into John Wayne Orange County airport. It's only like 15 mins. from DLR whereas LAX is easily an hour away, more with heavier, unpredictable traffic.

No, no Magical Express for DLR.

Congratulations on your anniversary and your magical trip! We loved the GC as well. We thought our trip to DL would be a once in a lifetime thing, but after being there we will definitely go back.

I'm so glad you had a wonderful time at DL. We LOVE it there too!:thumbsup2
We just got back last week from our first trip to WDW, and had a BLAST! So it looks like we both now have 2 Disney parks to love!:cool1:

We now get the love for DVC too.::yes::

I am so glad to hear you had a great trip. We are using our DVC points in June to spend 5 nights at Grand Californian then we are heading to the Coronado del Mar for 3 nights (using points too). We would have never done this paying cash. This is only one of the reasons we love belonging to DVC.
