Has anybody ever bought these used? I am looking at a couple linked off of Amazon. Are the cartridges reliable enough to buy used? Thanks!

Lisa

I just bought a few used games for the game boy color at this place called gamestop. My sil gave me her kids old color game boy b/c she got him gameboy advanced and they play the same games so I needed a few games to give him with the gameboy for christmas. They range from 2.99 to 14.99 depending on the game (the more popular ones were 14.99) still cheaper than brand new. My son wont care that they r used , he really wanted a gameboy for christmas , so he will be happy to get it.
O and BTW i tried them in the game and they work fine

Lisa,
Personally I would buy them from either the EB Games in front of Walmart or the Gamestop at the Avenues. They usually have a guarantee that they will work.

I saw a bunch at EB Games the other day. They ranged in price from about $4.99 to $25 for the more recent games. They will also give you a discount if you bring in your old games to trade or use towards buying a new game.

I've only ever bought one cartidge new and that was for a birthday. We even bought the gameboys used. They have always worked fine.

At our local ebgames you pay a small amount to insure it forever but if you don't like a used game and you bring it back within the week you can exchange it for one of the same price. We also trade games in when the kids get bored with them. They will only take them if the sticker is intact. My kids tried to peel the price tag off a few, ripped the sticker and now they are none returnable.

FYI,GameStop and EBgames have merged. They said that they are going to stay pretty separate for the next year but they didn't know after that.

We have Gamestop here, but their prices are really high. I have done better watching sales and getting new ones. Toysrus had a sale here when they went out of business, so we got DD a lot of games. Hopefully she will like some of them.

Thanks everyone. I'll check locally to see what I can find. I am looking for a specific cartridge that is a few years old that isn't available new anymore. I've found plenty online so hopefully someone locally will carry it.

check with ebgames, gamestop or the xchange first. They usually have a 30 day or 90 day warranty on used games. We go to gamestop and buy used gameboy games all the time.

We have bought used Gameboy cartridges and other types of used games as well, but we get them from our local Game Stop. They check to make sure they still work.

I sold some and bought some on e-bay with no problems whatsoever!!

We buy quite a few used games from GameXchange. They come with a warranty and usually have a sale going on...buy 2 get 1 free or something along those lines. We've never had any problems with any of the games.

I sold my DD used but not used game boy game on ebay got a about 1/2 the price for it if memory serves. You might check it out.

If others have kids like mine who htink they have to have something and then never use it, you could get a pretty good deal on previously owned but hardley used games.
