Paid one third of m.f. with reward points. They were able to immediately access the number of points on the reward card and process the bill. I thought we would end up overspending on some disney trinkets because they were "free". We have been charging mostly on this card. This is a very clean and straightforward incentive program. I was pleased with the service on the banc one end and on the disney end.

You need to have banc one send you the reward "debit" card. I received mine in ten days. The card expires in one year. However any points loaded onto the card expire when the card expires. You can order another reward card before expiration.

;) ;) ;)

"M.F"? Is that maintenance fees? Doc had heard something about being able to pay dues with the rewards in the future but I didn't know it was already in effect. How did it work?

You can also get these cards at Downtown Disney and have Bank One load your rewards points on them there. Note that you can also get one of them as a referral bonus (in states where you can get referral bonuses). I have enjoyed using the rewards points card to pay for Character dining.

Yes m.f. is maintenance fee

Banc one disney visa has a program of reward points. Every purchase made on the card is eligible for reward points. !00 dollars in charges gives you one dollar in reward points. After you have accumulated I believe 25 it might ten r.p.s you can request a reward debit card. You request how many r.ps you want to apply to the reward card. It must be aminimum of ten.
The card has a designation number much like a credit card number. M.s. was able to determine the number of points loaded onto the card. They deducted from the bill. I charged the remaining balance to the disney credit card. I actually earned another 6 rewards points on this end of the transaction.

MS. treated the transaction just like using two credit cards.

I had called ms and they said they would do it. Today they did it.

I think it's great that we can now use the reward pts to pay for dues.

Thanks for letting us know how it worked for you.:D

I've been accumulating points so this is great to know. I'll have to find out whether it can be used in combination with direct debit.

Gee, wouldn't it be nice if DVC would tell us about this?  Once again, without the DIS most of us would be in the dark.

HMMMM! Maybe I WILL start using that card more! I didn't figure there was a lot of point to use it if we were DVC. I think we can also get park pass discounts this way.

We purchased vouchers for AP's just before the end of the year. We saved using our DC Card (one last time :( ). We had also racked up $242.00 on our rewards card. The rewards card is VERY easy to use. Just make sure it is activated (mine wasn't the first time I tried to use it  ) We figured between the two discounts our child AP was just about paid in full.::yes::

So, now we can rack up the points again and use them towards next year's maintenance fees! YIPPEE!:teeth:

I am a little confused on the Bank One DC card. We have a DC bank one card. As I understand you get $1.00 for every $100.00 you spend on the DC card. Is this correct? If so doesnt that seem like an aweful lot. After all in order to get $20.00 in rewards I would have to spend $2000.00. Ughh

Nice to know, thanks.
I ordered mine for our trip a few weeks ago, but ended up having enough cash with me so I never even used it. I'm going to use it now for when we buy APs in June. Like you said, I'm glad I didn't use it on junk soveniers for the kids. They'd just ahve eneded up in their closets buried somewhere...

The Bank One Visa has become the primary credit card for our family. DH has a beloved AmEx Gold, which he had before we were married. We had used that card because we were in Member Rewards. I have been increasingly frustrated with Member Rewards because I use it primarily for airfare & I've not had great sucess in getting convenient free tickets. Plus AmEx charges fees. We really get a thrill accumulating Disney rewards for our Disney trips. As we charged furniture, we thought of the free dinner--At Artist Point?--planked salmon? We certainly would have charged the furniture anyway & I have only been increasing our Visa use for things like goreceries. But we will surely have a few free meals during our March OKW trip!

When using your bank one card to accumulate points, be sure you are paying bill ON TIME>>> My great introductory rate became 23.9% after paying for DVC and using the card for a year. I missed one payment because of personal reasons and BANK ONE whacked me with a huge increase. Customer Service would do nothing for me and stated that they would need one year of timely payments to renegotiate the rate.

BEWARE!!!!!

It is mandatory the balance be paid on time. Obviously you can't charge a lot and start paying interest. We carry zero balance.
On the other hand we charge everything. We charge internet service, gas, groceries, photo develop, etc. .

We are diligent about zero balance.

Also we were able to put a 5000 dollar deposit to hold a car on the card. We charged over 25000 on the card. Six round trip airfares a new t.v. It just adds up.

I feel like I reduced my m.f from 4.19 to 3 dollars per point.

I would look at but be cautious about offers for triple reward points. Triple reward points is just a 3 percent discount. It has to be something you would have bought any way.

I use my card for everything. I pay the balance in full every month, and find the rewards are in line with most, NOT ALL, cards. I only "buy" into the triple rewards with purchases I would have made anyway--like the AP I purchased so that I could get the DC discount one last time! I was going to buy it anyway, the money was saved and I picked one up. I think, by the time my trip rolls around in July I will have enough to pay for DD's AP. This card works for us.
Not many "new cards" have a tolerance for a late payment under any circumstances. Unfortunately you have not had time to establish yourself with them to "prove" this was a one time thing. If this was my situation, I might consider transferring the entire balance to a lower interest card.

If you don't get a rewards debit card what do you get instead? Disney Dollars?

I think the rewards debit card is the way of "cashing in". You can then use that to purchase things from Disney from hotel stays, to Disney Store merchandise, to tickets, etc. etc. It's good to know that it can also be used to pay dues.

Actually, you get the rewards card now instead of Disney Dollars.

Also note that in many cases you can get six months of 0% interest on DVC purchases. This means that if you pre-pay your usurious 9.75% DVC loan with the Disney Visa, you get not only the rewards points but also 0% interest on that money for 6 months. There are of course a number of caveats: the first is that you should start with an empty card, $0 balance. The reason for this is that your monthly payments are applied to the 0% portion first, so other purchases rack up the regular interest rate. The second caveat is that you need to be sure that both DVC accounting and BankOne pre-clear this ahead of time. If the BankOne person you are talking to doesn't know about it, ask for his her manager (thay are all pretty good tho, in my experience); just be sure they know you are going to do this, and know about the program. Then after making the charge, go back to BankOne and be sure that they have set the charge aside as a 0% balance.

Of course when it all works out, it is great. We have a small inheritance due to arrive in the summertime, so are charging the balance of our loan onto the card soon, then pay it off 6 months later from either the inheritance or from our 3.75% home equity line. For those 6 months, we plan to use what we would have paid on the DVC loan to pay down other debt, like the home equity line, and save even more interest that way.
