One of the boys called me :earseek: I really don't fancy cutting off an arm and a leg and mailing it to him to buy books :earseek: I remember a thread about a website to buy used books, can't find it though. Anybody have the thread or website?

Also, textbooks.com and Ebay.com...your son will need the ISBN numbers off the books that he needs. Most college bookstores HATE it when students are in there writing down the ISBN #'s, so tell him to make quick work of it. My sis and I used to team up and do this ISBN # research together so as to be quick and unnoticable while in the bookstore.

I google college textbooks and look for the best prices and free shipping.

www.campusi.com lets you look up books by title, author or ISBN, then pulls a list of all websites selling the book along with the cost, shipping, etc. I use it every semester.

I realize that I am older than dirt [41], but when I was in college, we could buy and sell used textbooks right at the campus bookstore - no more? :confused3

Just to give you an idea of what happened to me this year buying mine.

My A/P professor didnt list his books until this past Monday. Given Media Mail can take up to 21 days, I did not dare order on line. I went to the schools campus bookstore, picked up my A/P books- new only of course because nursing students keep these books...and my intro to psyc.

As i was checking out, the clerk asked who my psyc professor was, and i told her. She reached under the counter, and handed me a paper...with about 2 hours of pre-first class homework instruction from the professor. Had I ordered them online- I would not have known about this stuff.

I'm still not sure why she did it this way, as the clerk did not cross my name of a list or anything, so the teacher has no way of knowing who got this paper and who didnt.

Thankfully my Psyc books were both used, and this bookstore lets you go through the book to verify the condition its in. both my book and study guide have NO marks in them, and they're about 45% the original cost. My A/P books well lets just say- those are NOT cheap! but I can use them this semester for a/p I and next for a/p II

we can still do that at my college, and i believe most colleges, but it is so expensive to do that--most of my professors tell us the first day of classes about the other websites to get them--
This semester, it would have cost me 550.00 to get 14 books for my 6 classes...i used half.com and amazon, and got them all for under 300.00...there was one book that my school was selling for 90.00 (USED) that i ended up getting the exact same thing for 3.50...completely worth it to me..
