Can anyone please explain to me which use year would be good for me. We are looking into resale and i heard this is important. please explain. My husband picks his vacation in November for the upcoming year. We liked a resale with a March use year but I'm not sure that would be good. Do you have to wait till you have all your points or can you prebook knowing they will be here when your vacation arrives. I hope I explained this correctly. My husband wanted me to call up the dvc and ask them but I figured it would be easier for him to read an answer then me trying to explain what I heard. Thanks for all your help. Gina

Use Year is simply the time each year when your points are renewed and plays no role in when you may make a reservation.

It also determines your banking deadlines and could have an effect if you will need to cancel a reservation.

If you have a June Use Year and cancel a reservation for a trip in May- you will have to use those points by May 31 or bank them subject to banking deadlines.

For that same May trip, if you had a March Use Year- you would have until the following February 29 (or 29) to use or bank the points.

In general, it would be best to have a Use Year for the same month you will travel or just prior. You may also find that your travel habits may change over time and Use Year won't be an issue anyway in the future. Unless you have to cancel reservations, Use Year won't play much role in using your DVC ownership.

Enjoy!

Do you have a particular time of year you like to vacation? If so, you should choose a use year that month or before. If it varies, then it really doesn't matter.
