Got it so we ended up with Feb, so sept-feb cancelation would mean use or lose correct?

Your banking window closes 4 months before your UY begins, so the banking deadline for a February UY is September 30. That means, for example, if you have a November trip booked and cancel in September, you can still bank the points into the next UY, but if you cancel in October you'll have to use those points by Jan. 31 or lose them.

What are some “popular” UY?

This hasn’t been updated since 2018, but it gives a good understanding of UY distribution overall and by resort:

Overall, the most popular UYs are December, February, June and August (in that order).

Depending on the resort, the most popular UYs (and least popular) may be a little different.

My UY is September which is the least popular overall. For my home resorts, it’s the least popular at CCV, second to least at AKL, and third least at BRV. In all cases, I would have been better off going for an August UY. If I had known more when we got our first contracts, I would have held off till I found the right August UY contract, partly because our anniversary is in late August. If we ever went over our anniversary, we’d be traveling in the last month of our UY — nor can you make a single reservation that spans UYs.
