Use Year Signifigance

Why would certain use years be advantageous or non-advantageous. What is the difference?

It only has significance if you have to cancel a trip. "Ideally" you would like your UY to be at the start of your travel season. For ex, we travel Nov- Mar...so, a good UY for us would be Nov (which DVC does not offer), so Oct would be "best"...we couldn't find a resale at that time with an Oct...so, we go Sept...that works, too.

Here's why....say we have a trip scheduled for Feb, using the points we received in Sept. We (for some reason) have to cancel our trip. We are still in the first six months of our UY, which means we can bank all of our points into our next year's account if we wish (our deadline for doing that would be Feb 28th). If my UY is Jan, and we usually travel in Dec (and something happens and we had to cancel) we would not be able to bank our points into the next year.

I hope that makes sense. Other than cancelling, UY has no importance.
