Use year questions

hi, super duper new DVC member here (we close this week!), so forgive me if this is a silly question.

1. We have a June use year, so that would mean our 11 month booking is July 1st and our 7 month booking is November 1st?
2. Can we book at our home resort first at 11 months and then cancel and book at another resort, pending availability at 7 months with no penalty?

Congrats on the DVC

1.)The 11 month and 7 month windows is not based your use year but when you want to use them.

2.) Yes you can as long as your are within the cancellation window.

You need to really understand the point rules, banking, borrowing and how your UY fits in.

If you make a reservation using banked or borrowed points at 11 months and later book a different reservation at 7 months using less points, you may have points that are in jeopardy of being forfeited.

You might want to read this thread, Understand Use Year.

• Keep in mind what matters is when you want your reservation to begin.
• Whether you want to book at your home resort and use the home resort advantage of booking at 11 months.
• Or do you want to book at the 7 month mark for a resort that you do not own at.
• And do you need to bank or borrow points to book that reservation.

The only item above that is affected by your use year is the banking and borrowing question.
