How do you book for a vacation when you have points in current use year and need to bank and borrow?

Example:

October 2017 Vacation....Need 150 points.

Points available: September use year

2016 92
2017 21
2018 175

I think you cannot borrow 18 until you are in 17 use year or is it when it turns 2017?

Planning on a 2 Bedroom for Fall break probably 4 nights in October 2017.

Home is SSR.

When is your UY month? An October 2017 stay is in the 2017 UY for most - but if you have a December UY, then it is actually in your 2016 UY (and you cannot borrow from your 2018 UY pts to book that stay.)

UY is based on when you use the pts for a stay. UY has nothing to do with when you can call to book - that is based on home resort.

So if you are booking your home resort, you can call or go online at 11 months out - Nov 2016 to book Oct 2017. Unless you have a December UY, you can use banked 2016 UY pts + current 2017 UY pts + borrowed 2018 UY pts when you book the stay.

If you can book it, you can borrow for it. Which points you're allowed to borrow is based on the use year that the reservation falls in, not the date you make the reservation.

Judging from your previous post, you have a September UY.

That means that:

• 2016 92 pts. will expire on August 31, 2017 unless banked
• 2017 21 pts. become available on Sept. 1, 2017
• 2018 175 pts. become available on Sept. 1, 2018

You will need to bank your 2016 points into your Sept. 2017 UY. That will give you a total of 113 pts. that will become available to use for a reservation that occurs some time between 09/01/17 and 08/31/2018. It will still leave you 37 pts. short of the 150 pts. needed for your reservation in October 2017. You can borrow those from your Sept. 2018 UY. It doesn't matter that you are not currently in your Sept 2017 UY yet. What matters is that the reservation will fall during that UY.

Exactly! It's all based on the use year into which your trip falls.
