Use year points for cruises?

If one ends up with extra points, and wants to use those toward cruises, then what years are usable. If the points are banked into 2009, then are those usable for 2009 cruises as well.

Just wondering...I know it is a better deal to rent them out however.

Is the $95 fee charged for this also?

If you have points banked from 2008 into 2009, then yes you could use those to cruise in 2009.

There is a $95 booking fee which must be paid in full at time of booking the cruise.

Technically you'd need any points grouped into the UY of the Cruise though in general they're good about "making it work" if it's reasonable. But you wouldn't generally be able to use up points that were going to expire in a few months for a cruise in a year or two.

I booked the July 6, 2010 Baltic cruise totally on points for two staterooms, 4 adults and utilized our three different use years with points from 2008, 2009 and 2010. MS sure made it seem easy though!

The points are June use year and would be good until May 31 of 2010. The cruise is Nov 2009. We have it booked now on cash for 4. Would it be possible to stay with cash for 2 adults and use points for 2 children??

If so, how soon do I need to make the change?

No. One full adult must be paid by points then you can do the rest cash or points for any combo of adult and children as long as each one is paid for entirely in the same way. But it would be a new reservation and you MIGHT lose the cabin you have reserved. Plus any cash amount would be at the contract price which is likely more per person than the amount you are currently paying assuming you got the early booking discount. Call MS and see what the totals would be and the specifics of getting a new reservation possibly with the same cabin. Then you'll know.
