Use year HELP!!!

My DH and I are buying into DVC and I am having a hard time figuring out how to chose a use year. Any kind of help will do. We like to visit in the slower parts of the year but I think Spring Break, Summer, and Christmas break is our only good choice right now to travel due to school and my DH's job.

A DEC. UY would mean you need to bank points by July 31. Pick a UY closes to the start of the timeframe you travel the most in.

We have a March UY and I find that it really doesn't affect us at all. I, too, have to work around school schedules and we go over Thanksgiving now for the most part. Unless you plan on canceling your reservations, UY shouldn't affect you at all especially since it seems as though you will be traveling at different times of the year anyway.

With what you mention, I second the Dec UY. Having a UY that starts just before typical vacation gives the most flexibility, IMO in what to do with your points if you ever had to cancel or change trip.

With a Dec UY, all trips through August would be covered if you canceled more than 31 days in advance (to avoid holding). While no UY is perfect and if you never cancel or change a trip, it really doesn't mean much.

But, just in case, this gives you options. We travel in the summer and have a June UY. Because I am traveling so soon in my UY, I can make changes to my August trip, right up to the 31 day mark without having to worry about the points in any way!
