Use year/cancelling question

Hello all! I think I have this figured out but I wanted to double check with people more experienced

I have an April use year. If I make a reservation for July 1 with April 2021 points, as long as I cancel before June 1st (more than 31 days out anyway, I'd probably cancel mid-May to be safe) all points will go back into my account as if no reservation had been made. Is that correct?

Also, lets say I used those points to book a December 2021 trip (for arguments sake, lets say it started Dec 15). If I cancelled the first week of November 2021, I would be able to bank all those points to April 2022 (for use from April 2022 to March 2023).

Is all of this correct? Am I missing anything? Just wanted to make sure I have everything straight before making reservations.

Thats correct as long as u cancel before 31 days out so it doesn't go into holding and it's before your banking deadline and you used current UY points. You are good

Just make sure you know the EXACT day. I was a noob once and had the wrong day
