I have REALLY thin, dry, frizzy, curly/wavy hair that use to be auburn when I was younger. Now it is a drab light-medium brown with very few grays. I used to color with Natural Instincts a lot, but haven't in a while. I am thinking about using Loreal Feria, Clairol Hydrience, or the new Loreal Coulear Expert (with the multi-tonal look). I think haircolor will make my hair appear a bit shinier and thicker, and highlights would be wonderful! I usually go with a shade lighter and a bit more red than my now natural color. Which product will help me achieve my goals, without damaging the hair more? Thanks!

Go to a saloon and have a professional do it. If your hair is dry and frizzy, opt only for the all over color and a deep conditioning. Hold off on the highlights until your hair is in better condition. If you color, then highlight, there are stronger chemicals used for the highlights to bring them out better and it will damage your hair even more.

I love the Colour Experte haircolor -- My hair is pretty dry, but I've found that it still works well. I use Brioche, and the highlights are pretty subtle, but they do add a lot of dimension. The two-part process (overall color, then wait, then rinse that out and do the highlights, then wait, then rinse that out and they're done. ) is kind of a pain, but i've found that the results are worth it.

The last time I used Feria, it came out blotchy and mostly purple colored. (Right before composite pictures for my sorority! I'm not on the composite that year...)

DO NOT BUY BOX COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go to a salon and have it done. If you really feel you need to do it yourself go to a Sally Beauty Supply and get professional color. They will also have products that will help recondition your hair. Don't pull the color threw to the ends every time you color ( only do regrowth) it will cause more damage. If you find the ends getting dull pull it threw to ends for the last 5 min of your processing time.

I color my own hair. I use Casting Color Spa by Loreal and many people think my hair color is natural. It is semi-permanent - it washes out in 28 shampoos. It is incredibly easy to use and in my experience it is hard to make a mistake. The bonus is that you end with a deep conditioner. My hair truly feels better after I color! The draw back which for me isn't really one is that it will not make drastic changes. It brightens and lightly lightens your color. I love it! I actually much prefer it to to the times I have gone to a salon for either all over color or highlights.
