Use Target Gift Card to Buy Disney Gift Card?

Yes any target gift card can be used to buy a Disney gift card

Keep in mind if your buying a $50 Disney GC and have say $10 target gift card
The target gift card is applied FIRST...then your red card 5% and pharmacy 5%

So if you just had a red card your 5% off would be on $40 not $50 (since you used a $10 target gift card)

Also save you target gift cards that you get when you buy select items.

We saved overs for the past year and ended up getting allot of Disney GC FREE

Use swaggbucks to get target gift cards

Shopkicks (app) you can earn target gift cards as well

Both require some work...but it's worth it

Just to clarify - You don't have to use the Red Card in order to use the Pharmacy 5% coupon. You can use the 5% pharmacy coupon and pay with a Target gift card.

Yes, correct But why would you want to do that?

Use the red card and pharmacy to get even larger amount of savings.
Heck even your target employee, discount will stack with these as well

But guess to each their own.

We just did a large target Disney gift card haul. Using red card and pharmacy discount and save over $2,000 ( discount works out to 9.75%)

Just using the pharmacy coupon would have only saved us $1,000

FYI even though the target red debit card is linked to your checking account. Target still sets a daily dollar amount limit on your account. Based upon your red card history and past spending habits/amounts.

Though red card phone team member was able to give store manger authorization to manually give us the red card 5% and allow us to use another form of payment..in place of red card. In our case we us just used cash

Wow!!! You are going to have an amazing time using all those Disney gift cards!!!!

I've posted this a few times...

Here is one reason I would use the Pharmacy 5% coupon without using the Target Red Card. We use a LOT of gas so if I buy Target gift cards from Kroger when they run the 4xs fuel points promo and then use the Target gift card and Pharmacy 5% coupon to buy Disney gift cards I net a 19% discount. If I pay Kroger with my Disney Visa I get another 1% - so a 20% discount. This works out to be a much bigger savings for me because our Kroger lets us fill up multiple cars with the discounted gas and their prices are competitive with the Costco and Sam's gas stations next door.

It would not be as good a deal for folks who cannot use the whole discounted 35 gallons of gas. But for me it is much better than the Red Card deal.

ETA: The Kroger 4xs FP wouldn't work if I bought $20,000 worth of gift cards at once though. Too many Fuel Points would expire before we could use them all. That's a lot of Disney gift cards!

I'm surprised they allowed a gift card purchase that large. It seems like all the paperwork required to meet FinCEN requirements for purchases over $10,000 per person in one 24 hour period would be enough for them to have that limit firmly in place.

Sheesh, one of the Target stores near me only allows $250 of Disney gift cards per person per day. I was able to get $500 by splitting my purchase between electronics and the front checkout. I wouldn't have dared push it any more than that though, and I can't even imagine what they would have done if I had walked up with thousands of dollars worth.

I do it because I buy Target gift cards at my grocery store for about 15% off with credit card rewards and fuel perks. Then I use these gift cards with my pharmacy rewards card to get almost 20% off on all my Disney gift cards. Might not work for everyone, but it works for me.

did not have any issues with our purchase. In fact, it was the smoothest transaction we have ever done.

The only issue we ever had at Target with Disney Gift Cards- was the black friday 20% coupon. As we were going to buy this large lot using that coupon.
Manger tried to override the computer so many times...and it still would not process. But we now know that's cause Target change their policy on buying the disney GC- using the 20% coupon.
And we have read that some mangers who did mange to override this for customers- are no longer employed by target ( read that someone here on the boards)

To be honest all of that was not purchased in one transaction.
We had to break it up into seperate $5,000 transactions. As they register would not scan any more barcodes after that.
not sure if that made a difference for 'accounting' reasons.

Perhaps every Target store is different
but ours has no limits on gift cards what so ever.

it did take a bit of time to complete the transaction.
however, we wanted the stacked discount and pharmacy coupon is good for one full day only. Allot easier for us to buy at one time then buy a few here and there.
not to mention do that- you don't get the full discount- unless you get allot of pharmacy coupons- we don't

keep in mind these GC are pretty much good for just about anything Disney related. Even more true- now with magic bands (since everything is charged to your room account) you just pay charges off with the gift cards.
we are doing a DCL cruise, WDW trip, and more
we are also having a Disney Fairytale wedding
so need lots of gift cards ;)

Congratulations on the Disney Fairytale Wedding!!!!!

You should start a poll and have people vote. The question is: How tall is a $20,000 stack of $50 Disney gift cards?

I reckon it's pretty tall! My $900 stack was about an inch tall.

Have a wonderful wedding and many great Disney experiences!
