Use giftcard to upgrade tickets?

I am currently booked on the free giftcard promo, including park hoppers. Thinking about removing the hoppers, then once we get to Disney, using the giftcard to add the hoppers back on. It's not a lot, but thinking about upgrading from CBR to WL, and this would be a little bit less up front- we'd have an extra 45 days with that $200. We've got the $$ to pay for it, but I'm trying to keep it in my pocket a little longer.

Would this work, and does it sound like a good idea? I have to decide before tomorrow, when the promotion ends!

I would remove the hoppers regardless and pay for them when you get there since it costs the same before or after!

I don't know the answer to your actual question, but I think the other promotion is actually a better deal for the deluxe hotels.

Yes... You can also apply the GC to your room balance, as long as you do it the day before departure.

Thank you! Our stay starts on 8/13, so the 40% off only applies the first two days. However, I previously had the 35% discount booked at CBR, and they applied it to the entire stay, so it's possible they would do it again.

But! I just did the math, and we would come out ahead with the giftcard deal vs. the 40% off, by about $100. That's actually the same reason I switched my CBR reservation- the gift card saved $130 over the 35% off.

Now that my head is going to explode from doing the math 87 different ways , I think we've decided to switch to WL! We'll pay more up front, but with the giftcard, the net will be lower.

Also, you have to hope the room type you want at WL is avail. The Reg or Woods was never avail for the AP discount when we went in Feb and we called or checked online daily!

When I priced rooms that went past the 8/14 date, the Values and Moderates gave the discount for the entire time (a week past the date) The Deluxe hotels did not. I only priced online but that's what happened. The Value discount was 30% as well! 57 and change/night!
