Use a child's AP for room discount?

Does anyone know if you can use a child's ap for the resort AP rates?

It changed, I think before my March strip, to Adult AP only.

The legal explanation is something about a child can't enter into a contract (e.g. to rent a hotel room) so no, you cannot use a child's AP to get an AP rate on a Disney Resort room.

Disney let a child's AP be used for years. They now don't. They can do what they want. It's that simple. They may give a legal reason, but it's much simpler. They changed their mind.

I know it's more expensive, but honestly it makes sense to me for 2 major reasons. #1 the Contracts thing/and adults being responsible for acts of children #2 Since last year was the first year AP users could get the DDE card(more importantly discounts on drinks)-I think it only wise to limit it to adults(10+)

This is a quote from the AP holder website:

"No group rates or other discounts apply. Advance reservations required. Passholder must present his or her valid adult Pass at check in. Offer will also be made available to certain non-Passholders in other select promotions. "

We will be converting our MYW passes to APs in August, and I specifically asked about whether or not DS's AP could be used for room discounts. For the first year he will have a child's AP, and that is NOT valid for room ressies like others have posted. BUT in addition to that, the AP holder reserving the room must be 18 or older. So having a child with an adult pass who is age 10-17 doesn't help.

My original plan was to buy one AP in August, one in December, and another next March so they all expired at different times, but DH or I need to have a valid one if we are going to use it for room discounts.

I am assuming since Disney tracks so much info about us to begin with that they absolutely track the age of each AP holder.
