Hello everyone,

Currently, booked a vacation for 5 nights with disney basic dining plan.

Should I use 2 credits to go to CRT to pay OOP?
I was wondering if I should use the DDP for other table service meals or character meals with only 1 credit charge.

if I pay OOP is breakfast or lunch the same price. I have a hard time
finding prices for the character dining. It seems disney website gives a range of price but I dont know how much prices change from breakfast, lunch or dinner.

thanks

We did breakfast at CRT last year, and paid OOP. I paid for it in December, and we went in May. Once May hit, I had forgotten about all that money I spent for one meal:). You are most likely going to have to replace that second TS meal with another meal, so might as well save that credit. If I was on the DxDDP I would using dining credits, but for DDP, I would pay OOP,

When we did CRT for breakfast we payed OOP and we were on the DP, I'd rather save the 2 credits for a sig dinner

I think the cost for CRT (rounding up to the nearest dollar) are:

Breakfast: $55/$35
Lunch: $59/$37
Dinner: $67/$42

(First number is for adults, second number is for children. These costs were pulled up for a random date in August. Also, I estimated the tax and tip, so they might be off by a bit.)

[Edit: I went back and re-ran these numbers. The above costs were for when seasonal surcharge is in effect - I pulled up an August date before the 13th. I also managed to get into the system to find out how much the tax and tip are and here are the new costs:

Seasonal Surcharge in Effect Pricing:
Breakfast: $55/$35
Lunch: $59/$36
Dinner: $67/$41

Regular Season Pricing:
Breakfast: $50/$33
Lunch: $54/$34
Dinner: $63/$37

Again, these prices are rounded up to the nearest dollar.]

The cost could also depend on the dates you are going. I am going during Easter which means prices are at their peaks. I paid $148.00 for 2 adults and 1 child for breakfast which includes gratuity. If you go on the Disney website and try to book, it will tell you the price before you actually book it. This can help you compare prices between breakfast and lunch.

looks to be in the ball park - maybe a little high. For our June trip we're going for lunch and we paid $210 for three adults (one an 11 year old) and one child. CRT is usually on the summer "high demand highway robbery" additional charge so I assume we may have $10 - $14 for that.

Allears.net has the menus & prices listed, and they post when the menu was updated last.

For CRT, it was updated in August (2010). Breakfast was $44.80 for adults & $29.86 for kids, including tax & gratuity. Lunch was $48.54 for adults & $31.11 for kids. This should give you an idea.

We are going later this year, and I am planning on paying OOP. I figure we can save the credits for another meal or 2, but I will be looking at the actual costs for each of our meals and I will pick the least expensive to pay for OOP.

Something to keep in mind for anyone looking at costs per meal, remember to add in drinks, dessert, and tax to get a better idea of what your OOP cost would be. If I had looked at things closer, I would have paid for different meals OOP than what we did. I just chalked it up to the learning curve!!

So it seems for my situation for lunch, 59adult/37child will cost 155 OOP.
so if it takes 2 table credit then it averages to about 75-80 dollars per table service credit for 3 people (2 adult, 1 child).

When you eat out at TS meals what is the average cost of your meals. If its higher than 80 dollars for 3 people then paying OOP makes sense. If not, paying the 2 credits is ok.
