UsAirways voucher ??

We booked a flight earlier this year and then the price went down so thanks to this board, I was able to call and receive vouchers for the difference in price. Now, I would like to use the vouchers and have a few questions:

1. Do you have to turn the vouchers in when making payment for the flight (ie. would I have to go to the airport in order to pay for my flight)?

2. I noticed that USAirways has a lot of flight sales with a 5% discount for booking online. Can I book the flight online and still use the vouchers or would I have to decide whether the 5% discount was better than the discount with the vouchers and chose one?

I hope this makes sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Melody :)

as far as the vouchers go ......they have to be turned in for new "ticketing" at a US air ways ticket center either at the airport or sometimes they have agencies in other parts of the city...eg buffalo has one at the statler hotel....

with regards to getting the 5% discount....it is probably unlikely since the fare you mention is a "online" fare.....however, that being said ....why not call USAir and ask them directly.....or maybe Beverly Lynn will also answer this post ....she is very knowledgeable about USAir....

we know about the vouchers since we used them this last time for tickets we saw online, but not "online" fares in the sense you state.....for 115$ buf-mco....all we did was call and book the "flights" and then went the next day to tha airport with the "locator" number to finalize the tickets using the vouchers

hope this helps

Hi!

We had vouchers from USAirways and we had to go to the airport to purchase the tickets. You also have to surrender your voucher when you make the purchase. It is NOT possible to reserve a flight on the internet and then go to the airport to buy the tickets. We tried this and had some problems. My DH spoke to a customer service manager with USAirways AND USAirways.com (two differnet entities) and basically said that they need to change the system. i.e. - you should be able to redeem vouchers on the internet. Anyway, we got a great rate $156.00 RT, and our vouchers were for $100 each so it's only costing us $56.00 each RT to Orlando!

Hope this was helpful!

IT MOST CERTAINLY IS POSSIBLE TO BOOK ONLINE AND USE THE VOUCHERS! you must take the vouchers with the pnr locator from your online booking and go to a city tkt office or to the airport. I did this myself last may and I had even confirmed it with consumeraffairs. it is usairs websight and the vouchers state on them"tickets may be requested through usairways/ usairways express/metrojet by usairways/usairways shuttle or any authorized travel agency. when you use usairways sight you are essentially booking thru usairways! once you do this your ressie then is switched over form online booking to general res. so you might not get the 1000 bonus miles for flying but one quick call to consumer affairs will reinstate those! I did it for the tkts I just used aug 3rd and then for the tkts I will be flying for in sep. consumer affairs said that if they can access the ressie at the airport or city ttk office then yes it can be done. they can pull it up by using your flight nbr and date and name. they don't like to do it but hey its their job.

Thanks so much for the info. I knew you guys would come through! Just the incentive I need to get DH back in planning mode!

I've never booked online - do you pay when you reserve? Or does it hold them & you can pay later?

The last time I paid with us air vouchers I made the reservation on the phone & then sent my dad to the NYC ticket office (with the vouchers). I think he also paid the difference, but he says he didn't & I can't remember!

What's the consumer affairs # again?

you would ask that Gillian! LOL
336-661-0061 and they have a fax nbr too its 336-661-8031.
generally you pay at the time of booking but most fares allow a 24 hr hold.

Beverly Lynn,

Not to contradict you, but I tried this several times and was told it was not possible. Now I don't doubt you, but I'm wondering why it was easy for you to do and a hassle for me! My DH even spoke with managers for both USAirways and USAirways on line. To our understanding, they are two different entities. We were told that if we held a flight on the internet that the saleperson would not be able to find it in his/her computer at the airport. Is this wrong???

Anyway, fortunately for us our rate at the airport was maybe $3.00 more than the internet offer. Just wanted to share my experience with you.

Anne

yes scanne you were informed wrong. if you ever have a problem with usair plz do not hesitate to contact me as I can point you in the right direction of who to talk to. I have several people who have had vouchers that booked online and went to the city tkt office and exchanged them for their tkts. they can access the pnr from their computers. they just don't like to do it. now if yu were to call the 800 nbr they are not allowed to access your ressie you must call the 800 nbr associated with the web sight. they are a different department. but the airport and city tkt office can access your reservation.

Great information Beverly Lynn! I have always been told by USAir/Metrojet that I could not book online. I have missed out on several great rates due to this. Thanks again!
