USair AND DELTA??? WHo to fly now?

I really hope these guys don't go under permanently!

I like them both and I like them much better than Southwest.
I hate the cattle call mentality of Southwest. Delta's prices are unreal now for Spring Vacations I guess due to the financial situation. Does anyone believe that the prices will adjust in the near future? I am not familiar with the events due to an airline claiming bankruptcy.

I can't offer much advice, but I feel your pain. We fly ATA at least twice a month to Orlando, and they are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy too. For now, I'm not letting it worry me, as some airlines continue flying and manage to reorganize successfully once they have protection from their creditors.

If it's one thing I learned about the press and what you read on the Internet is, take it all with a grain of salt. I drove myself crazy with this whole US Airways thing. I'm holding tickets for March and July 2005. I must have read every post on the Internet. All you heard was doom and gloom and how the company would be liquidated by next week (PLEASE!). No more Dividend Miles and everyone would be out of jobs. Imagine the impact that would have on the East coast alone. These guys are playing typical corporate hardball and IMHO, will emerge. They may not have the same look and feel , but I feel they will survive. I flew with them the last time they were in bankruptcy court and I will continue to fly with them in the future.

I would not fret. These companies file just to protect themselves and to keep flying. Look at it this way. Say Delta does file for Chapter 11, that may mean cheaper flights especially to the Orlando area. One of Delta most popular routes. These are billion dollar companies and they will keep the birds in the air and most of all please the flyers, because they want our business, BAD! They all need to keep their jobs.
