I just signed up for the USAF Half Marathon and wondering who else was going. I did it last year and it's a good race, it's on the Air Force Base and through a historical area.

Don't forget to make a trip through the National Air Force Museum and see the Disney pins on wings exhibit.

If you want to make a road trip to Dayton June 24th- 26th, we are having the Dayton Disneyana event and the Schuster Center has the Lion King performing at the Schuster Center that weekend as well.

Unfortunately not this year. I'm doing Disneyland 1/2 at the beginning of a 10 day vacation and don't think I'll be ready for another one so soon. I did the 10K 2 years ago. If you can avoid the parking issues, it's a good event.

I went to college at Wright State University so I'm real familiar with the area. I've been to the Air Force Museum several times. Seeing the F-117A stealth fighter prototype land was a unique experience while I was in college. It and an escort plane flew by with a loud roar. Then the escort plane left and just the stealth fighter went by. It was long gone before you heard any noise.

I would not rule out AF just because of DL. Last fall I did DL, AF, WnD, and then the Cincy half. My finish times improved with each race

It's still early but I have been trying to decide if I want to do Disneyland as a "fun run" and then go all out on a later one or just try for a PR at Disneyland. As far as AF goes, I could training run DL but I've still 9 days of vacation left. I've been thinking about Columbus in October, I did it last year and I wasn't sure if I wanted to start repeating races yet. The Cincy half might be good. I'll need to look into the date and cost. My current though on DL race strategy is a 5K- 4 mile "fun run/warmup" through the parks, then really try through the streets of Anaheim. I would really like a sub 2:45 this fall.

The Cincinnati Half is October 22, 2011. It's a small, no frills race but the course is flat and fast. In our group of a Boston qualifying runner and 3 race walkers, all of us set new PRs on this course! :cool1:

I'm seriously thinking about doing it. The thing is, though, I have the Baltimore Half on October 16. I wondering if 2 halves that close together is going to be doable for me. I did notice they have a very generous time limit for the half. I think I could crawl and finish it. lol

Thats's one reason why I did the 10K in 2009. There are very generous time limits for the 10K and the Half marathon. 6 Hours for the half marathon and 4 hours to do 10K. The half marathon is so generous because it's mostly run on the back half of the marathon course. The Marthon has a 7 hour time limit but starts an hour earlier.

My friends and I are debating between the Cincy half and this one. I have done this one and really liked it. I know they say the Cincy one is flat - but from the riverfront into the city is not flat...I just walked it this weekend with my kids complaining about it ;)...I need to go drive the course and see what the streets are like that they travel.

My DH was thinking about it, he is doing the DL 1/2 as well, so he thought it might be pushing it, but he is training for the full WDW marathon in January, so he might go for it. It sounds like a great event and we hear a lot about it since we are close~

DVCBELLE~ we have a lot of friends that do the Cincy 1/2 and they say it is not all flat :)

THANK YOU - having lived in Cincy my whole life - I thought I was going crazy imagining where they could possibly route through the city and be flat!! I am sure that in relation to the Pig - it is flat as a pancake!!

We have decided on this race - now to get training!!

@Minniebeth and DVCBelle, I do live here in Cincy and agree that the are is not know for flat race courses. The Cincy half however is NOTHING like the Pig route. There are no bridges, no climbs up to Eden Park. There is a small incline at the beginning to bring you into downtown, then you head out to Eastern Ave where you follow the road along the river. I did the race last year along with 2 other walkers and 2 fast runners. ALL FOUR OF US GOT NEW PRs!

Check out their website for a course elevation map http://www.cincyhalfmarathon.com/course maps.htm

Looks like I'm in for this one too! just decided yesterday.

Don't forget to put it on the WISH Team calendar. I still have to do that too.

That's wonderful Lily, it's a good race through a pleasent residential area and the medal is nice also. The after race munchies aren't much but lots of good restraunts right across the street.

I haven't decided between this one and the Akron half for September. It is definitely in the plans though even if it isn't this year.

Thats strange, when I did the 10K in 2009, there was a ton of munchied after the race. They had oranges, bananas, water, sports drink, bagels from Panera Bread, Pizza from Donato's, and a couple of more items Items I don't remember.
