USA vs. Bed Bugs

I know they are a big problem to get rid of. I have a friend who spent almost a thousand dollars because he had to spray 3 times. The exterminator has a special dog that sniffs them out for him.

Nice article.

Also enjoyed John Stossel's write up on New York's bedbug problems.

Excellent article as well. There has been much written on the banning of DDT, much of the "science" false and at best, unsubstantiated. Unfortunately for the poor people of the third world, the banning of DDT has resulted in millions of deaths from malaria. It is sad when your only real protection are mosquito nets.

I certainly hope not! I've seen what happened when they tried to eradicate poverty. I've seen what happened when they tried to reduce unemployment.

I agree. Wouldn't it be nice if they would all go home for two or three years and leave us to ourselves.

Well something has to be done. My DS got bit 38 times in a hotel in GA. 2 of the bites got infected with MRSA. We have spend MONTHS on antibiotics, doctors appoints, it has been a nightmare and we didn't even bring any home with us.

I spent a ton cleaning and bagging everything, hosing out luggage, the stroller and my DD's car seat. After vacuuming and steaming it myself, I had our car detailed. I wasn't letting those things in my house.

Even still we spent weeks looking at every bite. Every 'anything.' It was maddening.

We were lucky. I have a friend in Kansas City who brought them home from a hotel in St Louis. She is having a hell of a time getting rid of them. It is awful.

I think they need to come up with something that actually KILLS them. I saw something on our local news that the one chemical that actually kills them, the EPA has said they have to stop making, as it's dangerous to children.
Umm..so are bed bugs. :sad2:
What are we? A third world nation :confused3..give me a break. :sad2:These things have made a re-appearance because we don't use the chemicals that formerly rid us of them in the US. Then we have foreign travel..to and from countries that never got rid of them..and here they are again.
Big surprise.:guilty: Instead of banning the pesticide that kills them, give US the choice as to whether we choose to use it.

I think another stimulus would go a long ways in eradicating bed bugs
