USA Today Haiti Article...FYI - NOW ON-LINE !

If there is anything we can do to help Britney's foundation please let me know. We can't post stuff here but we can certainly start a grassroots effort offline.

Haiti holds a special place in my heart as well. When I had DD a friend of mine from Canada who used to post here adopted 2 little girls from Haiti. She brought her girls home about the same time I had DD. I don't talk to her anymore (Lost touch) but I think about her girls around DD's birthday and the days that followed the earthquake.

sent you a PM

I'm sorry, I cried too....please be happy, we are happy for our memories and the 17 years I had with Jim..

oh and don't be sorry you made me cry.

Your life with Jim is the reminder to not take any day for granted. You gotta live and love all the way!

Lisa, What a moving article. Being newer to this part of the disboards, I did not know about this. Sorry for your family's loss. I am glad you are finding therapy in scrapbooking, that helped me heal some when my father passed.

The article was in my local paper this morning. It was a really good article and made me cry. to you and Megan.

Ah, Be Like Brit...We watched (on TV) the Gengel's get word that Britney was alive and then that she wasn't. It was so incredibly sad.

You are so incredibly strong, Lisa. I bow to you.

 It's a great article!

I'm with Buffy. I didn't know anything about this, but would like more information if there is anything I can do.

what a great article Lisa. My heart is with you and Megan. It must be so difficult. You are an incredible woman.
Much Love to you.

Please pm any info that I can do to help with the blankets.

:grouphug: Lisa!!! Great article! PM me, too, and let me know how we can help!

Lisa, I'm off to find the article right now. I hope it's still online.

I wanted to let you know that you are the reason for my theme of the year for 2011. I've had a hard time finding genuine love in my heart during 2010 and there was no reason for it to be that way. You are an inspiration and I send you my hugs and prayers, for both you and Megan. I hope 2011 brings you both exactly what you need.

Now, where did I put those tissues?

thank you everyone!

if you want to help with the blanket project its on the Disboutique threads click on the Big Give sign and then scroll down to the "haiti blankets" project to sign up....the Big Give mods very so kind to help me with adding us to the "wish" list....as of yesterday we are at 115 blankets....I would like to get to 132...so all 66 kids will have two blankets, one for use while the other is in the laundry.

Buffy is also talking to the mods about being able to post more info about the orphange here, but I will definately PM all who are interested in the meantime.

thank you isn't enough to say, but THANK YOU is all I can say....:goodvibes:love:

I have 4 blankets that we fringed in Girl Scouts, but were unable to donate to the hospital. Is it possible to drop these off somewhere in Worcester?

that's wonderful....for now I was having all the blankets sent here to me since they aren't going to be needed for a year, I could find out from Cherylann since you are so close if you could send them directly to her now.

yes the heartbreak you could hear in their voices (we had daily conference calls with the state dept ) was just aweful, but what they are doing in her memory is awesome and we are blessed to be able to help make her dream a reality.

Lisa~

PM me some info...since I'm not swapping.. I can make several blankets since they aren't do for a year...

Ok, have my kleenex... off to read the article.. I pulled it but then had to get my kleenex...

ETA: Very good article!!!! Used my kleenex for sure!

PM's sent to Doc and Kathy. Just waiting to hear back.

Of course we will need more blankets as those kids hopefully get adopted out, they should be allowed to take their blankets with them.

Such a beautiful and touching article.

I would definitely like to help out with that project also. Haiti holds a special place in my heart also - my aunt that passed away last year had done some missionary work there for a couple years in the 1980s. That's where she met and fell in love with her husband, and where she got the "bug" to devote her life to missionary work. My grandmother had gone to visit her there and my very favorite picture of the 2 of them is from that trip.
