USA Today At AKL

Maybe someone knows the answer to something that's been puzzling me:
I arrived at Jambo House (DVC rooms) on Thursday, Dec. 2. There was no USA Today delivery on Fri., Sat., or Sun. But on Monday, delivery started and lasted at least until I left on Thursday, Dec. 9.
When I stayed at Grand Californian, USA Today was not delivered to the DVC wing, only to the regular rooms.
What is the policy at AKL?

It kind of puzzles me too but I just take the USA today and enjoy the sudoku puzzle. And this is in a value room. For whatever reason, whenever I'm at AKV Jambo (and always in a value room), I get a USA today (except weekends off course). Most recently, October. I'm afraid if I ask them about it, they'll decide it's a mistake and discontinue it. I love my USA Today.

USA only publishes Monday thru Friday. They have no weekend paper. I would have thought you would have received the paper on Friday, though.

Ah yes, of course, no Saturday edition LOL forgot about that. But I didn't see any on the Friday.

I don't recall all of the fine print, but I do recall reading that there was a daily charge for USA today at AKV. Our November trip was the first time I had seen it, but I had stayed at AKV 3 or 4 times prior.

I didn't actually have a line item for the USA today, so I don't know if we were charged or not.

I also noticed that if you didn't take your paper early, they would be removed. This happened a few times-- I stayed in a lock off and there was a paper placed at each door. I would only pick up one of them and by the time we left for the parks, the other paper would be gone. Maybe another vacationer took it, but that would be strange since everyone had one at their door.

I stayed on DVC points; I received zero charges when I left. In fact, they didn't even drop off a bill. So I definitely was not charged for the paper.

Me either! So a free USA Today, and in a value studio yet. I've stayed at AKV 4 times in a value studio and gotten my free USA today each time.

Thank you. I think you give the definitive answer---USA Today IS distributed for "free." I guess it was just a fluke that it wasn't distributed on the Friday I was there.

Someone I know staying at a hotel just told us last night that there's no USA Today on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Or maybe the Friday's just on holiday weekends(?)

I don't ever recall getting a USA Today at a DVC resort at WDW, this might be something new. I stayed at BWV in October. Wonder if it's being paid for through dues or if maybe USA Today is giving them out to encourage purchases once back home.

That's what I was going to say - the only time I remember getting a paper at my door was at the Poly in the club level building. I might be forgetting a random time or two somewhere else, but I don't remember any other time.

I would assume that AKL has a subscription for X number of USA today. If there are unoccupioed cash rooms, they may just place the extra copies to DVC guests.

Thanks, I know they didn't publish Christmas Eve (or at least that's what the front desk at the hotel told our friends a couple days ago), so I just assumed they didn't ever publish Fridays.
