USA Credit Card in France - any advice

We will be traveling to DLP and then Paris next summer. We live in the USA and have a Chase "Disney" Visa card. It is the old-version magnetic swipe card - not a "smart" credit card.

Will we have any problems using this card in France?

At DLP can we change dollars to Euros at the hotel? Can we use the credit card to get Euro currency at the hotel?

I'm not sure about the credit card. But there are bureau de changes at the onsite hotels & in the village but the rate will not be very good.

I would also try & avoid buying the currency with your credit card. In the UK that will be charged as a cash advance and you pay a much higher rate of interest & its from the day it is processed, not sure if its the same for US CC

Hi,

I've just seen your question.

I think (90% sure) that, being a Visa, your card will be accepted in all shops, restaurants and stores of DLP. I'm personally use an AMEX with no chip ; I know even some japanese credit card are accepted so... go on and bring it !

However, if you wish to avoid bank charges, you can use the equivalent of the KTTW in USA. Leave your credit card number upon check-in at your hotel.

It will be recorded and your "easy pass" will now be able to charge your room statement with all your expenses whatever the amount wherever on the resort you are.

As far as you don't exceed a certain amount (quite high in my latest memory) the credit card will be charged only once while you check out.

A visa will be accepted everywhere... I'm using a Danish visa, when I'm in DLP... Also make sure you get a pin code for your card, if you don't already have one... Some places you have to have a pin code to use your card other places you can sign, so to avoid any problems, bring a pin code...
