I'm not sure what a flame is, but I don't think the term includes debating. I will not concede that you or I or your children or my children should be targets because of the war in Iraq and certainly not what's going on in Lebanon. This is my point about moral equivalence. I just don't buy that our people are over there intentionally killing civilian men, women and children. It appears that you think they are. We will disagree on that. However, there is no debating the fact that terrorists intentionally try to kill as many civilians as possible simply because they are civilians. That's all. Now I'll go ask the next poster what they'll do on their first day in the parks.

I agree that our children should NOT be targeted. However, neither should other children around the globe. When our government kills other nationalities children, either as an oops, or with our bombs, we put bulleyes on ours. Remember that when you vote, when you call your senators, congress people etc...
I am here in NY and was on 9/11. It was me and my family targeted. I lost many a neighbor. We need to stop the excuses and stop the circle of hate. The world is not wrong and the US right. The world was right before we invaded Iraq and we are finally realizing it. Let's stop making the same deadly mistake over and over.

I can't help but think if a terrorist was willing to blow him/herself up they would certainly be willing to "taste" some of the 'liquid' ......

Yes and I can't understand why there is no crack down on this. Ok, I'm not a chemist or a terrorist, but I know that crystalline agents can be easier to explode than liquid. Talcum powder (or what looks like it) can be far more dangerous than toothpaste. I don't mind certain reasonable regulations. I just wish that, for once, our security procedures would be precautionary rather than reactionary. Why can't the industry and our government use some forward thinking relative to items that should be restricted/prohibited, make a list and stick with it rather than causing the chaos like we see today? Two weeks from now liquids could cause just as much damage as today. So ban them and keep them banned. That goes for battery operated items as well. Do I want to check my camera and laptop? No, but I will - they are insured if they go missing. Many people (including biz passengers) won't be happy but unhappy and/or delayed is better than dead. All I ask is that people be told what isn't allowed, today, tomorrow and forever instead of making everyone guess.

Just to let you know, my friend works at WDW in the summers. Her last day was yesterday, so today she flew home to Boston. She has 2 carry-ons and a backpack. The man at the gate asked if she had any liquids...she said "no." They said "okay" and let her go past. Maybe it's because she's a white female who was wearing Mickey Mouse ears, (which proves our nation is prejudiced) but today doesn't seem any different from any other day.

Aren't they are only referring to liquid medications?

According to the State of Minnesota it is all medications regardless of delivery since creams, ointments and gels are banned with the liquids. The only thing left is pills and capsules which has always been advised to travel in their original or officially labled containers. The difference is that when we kill their civilians, it's by accident. (Or because they were mixing in their civilians with their millitary targets on purpose.) When they kill our civilians, it's because they want to, because they want to kill us all.

First of all, the people we are fighting are not the people who are attacking us. Pick up a newspaper, why don't you? The people who are attacking us are a terror group, not part of the Iraqui or Afghan military.

Second of all, our government does kill their civilians on purpose. Our government is just as bad as the terrorists if not worse.

For the two posters that have asked about eye drops a couple of pages back, I can tell you that I have heard 2 or 3 times on the news that contact lens solution is not allowed. I don't know about medicated drops, but I don't think wetting drops/artificial tears will work. I specifically noticed this on the news because I wear contacts and always carry a small container of lens solution in case of problems with my eyes.

Personally I trust no one. Terrorists or government. I have no doubt that terrorists will stop at nothing to harm us, in the same vein, I was just waiting for a heightened security issue now that it's election time.

I'm sure the government knew eons ago about the volitility of certain liquids and that this could be used against us. I would feel the safest if I thought they cared enough to have already encorporated this into our regular flight restrictions and policies.

Has anyone heard anything about non-prescrip eyedrops? I have contacts & dry eye so I use eye drops quite often. Any suggestions. TIA

I haven't read through the whole thread but my guess is that they are NOT allowed. I read something that contact saline solution was what was going to be used to carry the "liquid" in. There are reports of lip gloss being denied. So NO is the safe answer. My husband will be upset because he takes meds that dry his eyes and uses drops a lot.

To get back on topic I just heard someone on the radio today say that a pilot's eyedrops were confiscated today, so I would think that's a big NO!

(And they also had a good point that it really made no sense, because if a pilot wants to bring a plane down, all he has to do is crash it! )

When you drop a 2,000 pound bomb on a city and it's civilians are killed it is not an accident. No more then flying a plane into the World trade Center and killing stock brokers was.

I was a little bummed about the eye drops too. I'll be on a 5-hour flight next week, and my contacts get pretty dried out on the plane. I think I'm just going to pack my contacts and wear my eyeglasses for the flight.

I'm also in a panic having to go without my Chapstick! Maybe I can hide a blob of vaseline in my belly button?? JUST KIDDING guys! I am going to follow the rules, as I don't want to miss my flight on my very first trip to Hawaii. I'm thinking it will be a might safe flight.

Yes, I know. I am just complaining because I get really thirsty on the plane, and sometimes I will buy a coke or bottled water at one of the shops in the airport and bring it onboard. But no longer....

You could flag down an attendant and request a small bottle or water before take off. I did that once when I wasn't feeling well and they brought one of those little 8oz bottles right to me.
