I'll admit it; I had tears in my eyes as well . . . and some coming down my cheeks.

An amazing career, and an amazing man.

To watch him grow from a cocky, long-haired, earring'ed, denim-wearing teenager, to dominate the tennis world in the early 90's, to his fairy-tale wedding turned bad marriage to Brooke Shields, to his plummet to #141 ranking, to his steady climb back into the tennis elite, to finally finding true love and domestic happiness and parenthood with Stefi Graf, and finally, to his finals appearance, against all odds, last year at the US Open against Roger Federer . . . wow, what a ride.

Yes, it was hard to see him in such pain on Sunday, but I knew that he would not quit. He lost, not to Ben Becker, but to the ravages of time and his failing body.

So enjoy your retirement now, Andre. You've earned it, and you deserve it. And thanks for all the wonderful memories you've provided us along the way.

Wow, was that an eloquent statement! I agree 100%. By the way, Agassi is going to be on Larry King Thursday night.

I loved watching the old (or new) Andy Roddick! He looked great tonight. Blake was awesome today in his match. I think he will be my new favorite, although I really liked his hair when it was long. I remember him saying he ebayed his old locks and gave money to charity. He is such a pleasant guy with a beautiful smile.

Looking for to semi's.

What an amazing turnaround for Andy Roddick too!!! Jimmy Conners must have really given him some confidence . . . he is looking great!!

Wouldn't it be something if it turns out to be Roddick vs. Blake in the finals??

And back to Andre, for a bit . . . even more amazing than his tennis career, with its richs-to-rags-to-riches again path, was watching Andre himself change and mature as a man.

People may not remember, but Andre was every bit an arrogant, selfish disrespectful punk when he first come onto the international tennis scene. Yes, he was undeniably talented, but he also spit at officials and faked injuries to get out of playing when he didn't feel like it. Contrasting that to his playing in terrible pain on Sunday, and giving it his all in hopes of staying in the tournament really brings it full circle, doesn't it? To watch his transformation has been amazing -- the physical changes are obvious, but the emotional ones are just as profound. This former bad boy now devotes his time, energy, and money to helping underprivliged children -- who would have thought he would be doing this, 20 years ago?

Like I said, what a ride.

Now, go Andy and James!!! :woohoo: Maybe the future of US tennis is not dead yet . . .

I love seeing Connors in the stands, I think he has done wonders for Roddick, giving his confidence again. Connors mother was his coach all the years he played.

I have watched Agassi since the beginning. He was so talented and didn't take advantage of it early enough. Once he settle down he was awesome. I think he would have won open last year if he played anyone but Federer.

Anyway, the semi's will be fun to watch.
